Rules & Scoring

SOC Showdown

In salary cap contests, participants will create a lineup by selecting players listed in the Player Pool. Each player listed has an assigned salary and a valid lineup must not exceed the salary cap of $50,000.

Contest results will be determined by the total points accumulated by each individual lineup entry (scoring rules summarized below).

Participation in each contest must be made only as specified in the Terms of Use. Failure to comply with these Terms of Use will result in disqualification and, if applicable, prize forfeiture.

Scoring

The player you draft as your Captain will earn 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic.

Scoring Notes

  • The MLS awards both primary and secondary assists. Both primary and secondary assists are used for scoring in MLS contests and they have the same point value.
  • A shot on goal will count as both a shot on goal as well as a shot. I.e. a total of +2 PTs.
  • An accurate pass is defined as an intentionally played ball from one player to another.
  • An assisted shot is defined as the final pass leading to the recipient of the ball having an attempt on goal.
  • In the instance where a player gets 2 yellow cards, the player will NOT be given a red card. The player will get a total of -3 PTs.
  • Goalkeepers/Defenders must play at least 60 minutes to qualify for the clean sheet bonus. The player’s team (regardless if he is still playing or not) must allow zero goals over the course of regular time and extra time to qualify. Injury time is not counted in a player's total minutes played.
  • Goalkeeper win stat is determined by the score after regulation time or extra time, if necessary. Penalty shootouts are not considered in determining a winning Goalkeeper. For two leg ties, the win stat will only consider the game being played, not the tie as a whole.
  • Goalkeepers must play at least 60 minutes to qualify for a win. If a goalkeeper gets subbed off, his team must be winning at the time of substitution in order to be eligible for the win. The score at the time of substitution is not factored in for a Goalkeeper who is subbed into a match.
  • A penalty kick save will count as +2 PTs for the save and an additional +3 PTs for the penalty kick save.
  • Own goals do not count as goals for, but do count as goals against for Goalkeepers and do factor into Clean Sheet calculations.

Lineup Requirements

Lineups will consist of 6 players and must include players from both teams.

The 6 roster positions are:

1

Captain

(GK,D,M,F)

5

FLEX

(GK,D,M,F)

The player you select as your Captain will score 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic, but drafting a player as Captain will cost more salary than drafting them as UTIL.

Any player in the player pool is eligible to be selected as Captain. However, a player cannot be added at both Captain and UTIL in the same lineup.

Player Pool

The Player Pool will consist of all SOC players expected to be on the active roster for any team scheduled to play in the contest Game Set. Occasionally a player may be missing from the Player Pool due to trades or other unforeseen circumstances.

In most circumstances, once the Player Pool is established for a Game Set, including positions and salaries, the Player Pool will not be adjusted. In the rare event that there is a mistake within the Player Pool that would significantly impact game quality, DraftKings reserves the right to correct the mistake after contests for that Game Set have become available. This may result in valid lineups becoming invalid. This would most likely occur shortly after the Player Pool becomes available, far in advance of the contest start time, and participants who have entered contests for the Game Set prior to the adjustment will be notified via email.

A "Game Set" is a set of matches used for contests; each contest is tied to one Game Set. Contests tied to the same Game Set can be created at different times. Therefore, game policies are based on the timing of a Game Set being made available, not each individual contest.

Position Eligibility

Player positions are determined at the sole discretion of DraftKings. The positions given to players by DraftKings are the positions used to calculate fantasy scoring.

Lineup Edits

Lineups may be edited at any time leading up to matches. Each individual player will become "locked" at the scheduled start time of their team’s match. A locked player cannot be added or removed from a roster spot. Locked roster spots for all entries are displayed in contest GameCenters.

In the rare case that a match starts before the scheduled start time, all players within that match will become locked as soon as our feed reflects that the match has begun. Additionally, any swaps that were made after the real-life start time of the match will result in those lineups being disqualified and refunded.

Cancelled, Postponed, Rescheduled, and Abandoned Games

In the event that a match is canceled, postponed, or a match is rescheduled to a time outside of the original Scoring Period, DraftKings will cancel and refund all contests.

In the event that a match is abandoned and not scheduled to resume within the scoring period, DraftKings will cancel and refund all contests.

The Scoring Period for SOC is defined as the timeframe between the scheduled start of the first match within the Game Set and 11:59pm ET on the date of the start time of the last scheduled match within the Game Set.

DraftKings may choose to adjust the Scoring Period for a Game Set at their sole discretion to accommodate schedule changes at any time before 12:00am ET on the date the Game Set is scheduled to start and/or if the adjustment would move the Game Set start time by 15 minutes or less.
