Rules & Scoring

Formula 1 Classic

In salary cap contests, participants will create a lineup by selecting players listed in the Player Pool. Each player listed has an assigned salary and a valid lineup must not exceed the salary cap of $50,000.

Contest results will be determined by the total points accumulated by each individual lineup entry (scoring rules summarized below).

Participation in each contest must be made only as specified in the Terms of Use. Failure to comply with these Terms of Use will result in disqualification and, if applicable, prize forfeiture.

Scoring

The driver you draft as your Captain will earn 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic.

Scoring Notes

  • A classified finish is defined as 90%+ of the race completed, as measured by laps completed/total laps.
  • Place Differential = (Starting Position) - (Finishing Position) Example: If a driver starts in 20th position and finishes in 10th place then his Place Differential is +10.
  • Constructors earn points for the finishing position of each driver on the team. For example, a constructor whose cars finish in 1st and 3rd place will earn 75 FPTS (40+35) points for the race finish stat.
  • A driver's starting position is based on where he starts on the grid. A driver's grid position is based on penalties applied to himself and other drivers after qualifying results. The final starting grid will be published two (2) hours before the scheduled start of the formation lap as per FIA rules.
  • Points for Finishing Position and Place Differential will be updated in real-time during the race. Drivers will gain points as they move up in position and lose points as they drop in position.
  • Finishing Position is defined as the driver's standing order at the end of the race, after any time penalties are applied. Disqualifications announced after the race will not change a driver's Finishing Position, Laps Led, or Fastest Laps stats.
  • Constructor scoring related to “Both team cars” is dependent on both cars starting and finishing the race. Should a constructor not have 1 or more cars start the race for any reason, the constructor is not eligible for these fantasy points.
  • If a driver withdraws and there is no replacement driver, the teammate would be eligible for the beat teammate stat. The constructor would not get points for any of the both teammate stats.
  • If a driver withdraws and there is a replacement driver, regardless of whether the replacement driver is in our player pool, the new driver would count towards the beat teammate stat. The constructor would be eligible to get points for the both teammate stats, depending on how both drivers perform.

Lineup Requirements

Lineups will consist of 5 drivers and 1 constructor. You cannot select 2 drivers and a constructor from the same team. The roster positions are:

1

Captain (CPT)

(Driver)

4

Driver

1

Constructor

The driver you select as your Captain will score 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic but drafting a driver as Captain will cost more salary than drafting them in the driver slot.

Any driver in the player pool is eligible to be selected as Captain. Constructors are not eligible to be selected as Captain. You cannot select 2 drivers and a constructor from the same team.

Player Pool

The Player Pool will consist of all Formula1 drivers expected to be participating in the upcoming race. Occasionally a driver may be missing from the Player Pool due to injury or other unforeseen circumstances.

In most circumstances, once the Player Pool is established, including positions and salaries, the Player Pool will not be adjusted. In the rare event that there is a mistake within the Player Pool that would significantly impact game quality, DraftKings reserves the right to correct the mistake after contests have become available. This may result in valid lineups becoming invalid. This would most likely occur shortly after the Player Pool becomes available, far in advance of the contest start time, and participants who have entered contests prior to the adjustment will be notified via email.

Position Eligibility

Driver eligibility determinations and decisions around driver inclusion into the player pool are at the sole discretion of DraftKings. If a driver withdraws, gets substituted out before the race, or does not end up participating in the race for any reason, that driver will receive zero fantasy points.

However, if a driver begins a race and gets replaced (for injury or any other reason), the stats earned by the original driver and his replacement will count for the original driver.

Lineup Edits

Lineups may be edited at any time leading up to a race. Each individual driver will become "locked" at the scheduled start time of the race. A locked driver cannot be added or removed from a roster spot.

Cancelled, Postponed, and Rescheduled Races

In the event that a race is cancelled before it begins, all player entries will be cancelled and refunded. If a race is postponed before it is scheduled to start and is rescheduled to a later time, DraftKings reserves the right to update contest start times to match the start time of the race.

Races are "known" to be canceled or postponed once their status is updated as such by DraftKings' Formula 1 stats-provider, Sportradar.

Suspended or Shortened Races

If Formula 1 suspends a race and the race is resumed within a week of the start of the race, then DraftKings will include the entire race to settle contests and render them final.

If Formula 1 suspends a race and the race is resumed after a week of the start of the race, then DraftKings will settle the contests and render them final, provided the race is at least half completed. Otherwise, all player entries will be canceled and refunded.

If Formula 1 officially shortens and finalizes a race for any reason, then the statistics that are generated for the portion of the race that has been completed will be used to settle contests and render them final. This includes situations where the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) awards half points for a race that starts but does not get to the halfway threshold for a complete race. DraftKings will still consider this a completed contest and will award full finishing points.
