DraftKings Opens New Dublin Office
Sports Betting and Daily Fantasy Company Opens Fifth New Office in Two Years
DUBLIN (March 10, 2020) – DraftKings Inc. today announced its office opening in Dublin with a reception that celebrates the new engineering center, complementing its U.S. workforce that responsibly creates immersive sports entertainment and gaming experiences.
“It is a great honor to build our team and brand in Dublin – a prime destination for technology and sports gaming – and we could not be more excited to tap Irish talent,” said Chief Technology Officer Travis Dunn. “Staffing a European office in close collaboration with our Boston headquarters will allow us to serve our customers.”
Engineers at DraftKings Dublin, located just off of St Stephens Green, will complement employees across five American cities including the global headquarters in Boston, as the company continues to create and refine the world’s favorite games and sports entertainment. Since October 2018, DraftKings has seen a 40% increase in its company headcount. In the last two years, DraftKings opened its new global headquarters in Boston, and new offices in Las Vegas and San Francisco, while also maintaining offices in New York City and Hoboken, New Jersey. DraftKings recently announced a 20,000-square-foot expansion of its Boston global headquarters, already at 105,000-square-feet, and has taken additional space in the city to accommodate their rapidly growing Boston-based team.
DraftKings has provided sports fans in Ireland its top-rated daily fantasy sports product since 2017 with Showdown or Classic contests available online. In Showdown contests, players draft a team from a single game, round or match all while staying under the designated salary cap. Alternatively, Classic contests require participants to draft a team across multiple games by selecting players by position listed in the available Player Pool while remaining under the designated salary cap. Classic is a popular option for fans during regular season games, while Showdown is a favorite for marquee sporting events like the Super Bowl.
The new office, which features state-of-the-art technology and sports icon themed conference rooms, has capacity to accommodate up to 50 employees.
