We head into a Saturday slate that has ten games (nine night tilts). It is time to get down to work because this is going to be quick. Please note that there are a lot of featured contests on Saturday as the Micro Millions contests end. Get in them and make some extra money!
This will be fun! Let’s go!
Carey Price ($9500) – Price is not the guy we recommend the most but he does have a pretty good match-up in Arizona against a team that the Habs want or should want revenge against. They remember that 3-2 loss in Montreal well and want to avenge it. The 0-2-1 California part of the trip was an okay one for Price and he wants to atone for that more than anyone on the team. Arizona does not score a lot but Montreal only does in spurts. This game could go a lot of different ways to be honest.
Braden Holtby ($8100) – We will roll with this as it is a bit of a gamble. Yes I mean it. Buffalo hit the puck line last night and was up 2-0 on Ottawa early. With the uncertainty as to the availability of Alexander Ovechkin, this game could head into limbo faster than Haley’s Comet. We are under the impression that Ovechkin will give this a go. Holtby has solid numbers over the last ten games and Buffalo on the back end of back to backs should be a good result.
Others to consider: Andrei Vasilevskiy ($6800), Dan Ellis ($6700).
Steven Stamkos ($8900) – This has been a really nice stretch for Stamkos and the other night he got to show his play making side with two assists. He has eight goals and three assists over his last ten games. Note the eight goals! Stamkos easily could be on pace for 45+ goals. He faces a bit of a challenge going up against Jamie Benn tonight but with Dallas’s team defense being a mess. You can play Stamkos and then part of the second line or one of the triplets plus Stamkos and Callahan. There are lots of options.
Anders Lee ($5000) – Let’s risk it a bit and go this in style! Lee and John Tavares are creating havoc for the opposition. They should have an easy match-up against a Florida team that does not often stack up well against top lines. The speed and power of these two forwards is the main culprit for all the problems. Add in the fact that Lee has real good finishing ability does not hurt. The line of the future is Lee-Tavares-Okposo but right now that duo with Josh Bailey is still very good.
Others I like: John Tavares ($8800), Joe Pavelski ($8000), Tyler Johnson ($6200), David Backes ($5700).
Value: Cedric Paquette ($2900), Alex Wennberg ($2700).
Vladimir Tarasenko ($6000) – This really is too easy and Tarasenko can still fit right in your GPP’s. Pricing for the main events tonight is incredibly simple and it is going to give you options that you may not be used to. His power play numbers have struggled a bit but so have the Blues in general in that regard. Tonight may be a nice way for them to get back in rhythm but they will have to play at a faster pace to do so. Tarasenko is one of those players who can absolutely handle the beefed up tempo.
Nikita Kucherov ($5100) – Kucherov provides solid points and has this look of being able to score possibly multiple points against Toronto. Sometimes it really is kind of a hunch but also scoring chances are up again with the right winger. People keep thinking that the triplets will severely regress and then magically they bounce back enough to make one wonder. This could be a nice GPP play to help you afford Stamkos in a cross stack. The key is watch him on the power play especially. He could really get more chances there against a Toronto team that will try to keep Stamkos from beating them.
Others I like: Alex Ovechkin? ($9300), Patric Hornqvist ($8100), Jamie Benn ($6700), Nick Foligno ($4900).
Value: Dale Weise ($2600), Steve Downie? ($2500), Matt Martin ($2500).
Kris Letang ($5800) – Defense prices are a incredible on a night like this so choices will be many. The best bet may be Letang against that vulnerable LA penalty kill. Again you are going to see a good bit of value being exceeded quickly tonight but it is up to you to choose the right players. The Pittsburgh defenseman may be the best in the game at getting in crucial positions when the points are really needed. Power play point potential is high.
Tyson Barrie ($5200) – With Nathan MacKinnon out, Barrie suddenly finds himself more of a power play opportunity as he should have full QB responsibilities now. He has nine points in his last ten games and is hitting the net much more. Yes his advanced stats are not really that good. Colorado’s numbers are ugly as a whole but everything else indicates a good game in the offing tonight against Columbus. They may fire the cannon but Barrie might fire a couple of his own.
Others I like: Shea Weber/Roman Josi, Alex Pietrangelo ($5400), Johnny Boychuk ($5400), Aaron Ekblad ($4300).
Value: Brayden McNabb ($3000), Roman Polak ($2900), Jeff Petry ($2800).
Thanks for reading guys and hopefully the picks help you out. If you have any questions, fire them away at me on twitter @ChrisWasselDFS and i’ll do my best to answer them.
Good luck tonight!
