We head into a Sunday with seven games. Our goal for this evening is to focus on the six night err games that start at 5:00 pm ET. This will be rather quick.
This will be fun! Let’s go!
Andrew Hammond ($8400) – It is rare to go this road but Hammond is 9-0-1 and likely to start against a Philadelphia team that scored a week’s worth of goals in one game against Detroit. He has not allowed more than two goals in any of his ten decisions. It is always nice to be a little rested going up against a team that yes has some momentum, but the bottom line is the fact that the Senators and Hammond definitely have a good thing going.
Cam Talbot ($9000) – We still think this is a bit of a trap but Talbot hopefully faces a team that will press the action a little more than what the Rangers saw on Saturday. It will be fun to see how Talbot handles this but he is 6-1-1 in his last eight starts with a 1.37 GAA and a .954 save percentage. Florida offers some unique challenges but then again the Panthers were a bit sluggish at times in Carolina. The Rangers are a bit of a step up to be honest.
Others to consider: Kari Lehtonen ($7800), Carolina starter.
Tyler Seguin ($8700) – This will be a test for Seguin as he faces a Blues team that fired 42 shots on Minnesota and may be a little gassed. Can the center take advantage of this? He only has six points in his last ten games and his shots per game are significantly lower. He has to get it going a bit and St. Louis could be a perfect team to get it moving. Let’s be honest! This is going to be the game where Seguin might be able to break out.
Nicklas Backstrom ($5500) – Let’s risk it a bit! Backstrom is a nice middle value because he is right at the average for DraftKings. This is a case where he rides shotgun with Alex Ovechkin. This is the type of game where your best players have to be your best players. Washington’s power play has to show the ability it can play in a big spot with playoff seeding on the line. This is only the beginning for Barry Trotz and Backstrom can help his cause greatly in this one.
Others I like: Patrice Bergeron ($6500), Ryan Johansen ($5200).
Value: Chris Kelly ($2900), Matt Cullen ($2500).
Alex Ovechkin ($9700) – This really is fun but Ovechkin has to buckle down and get it going on the big stage against a charging Boston team. Tuukka Rask has been great in net and again the number 8 must be better in this game than he has been against certain playoff caliber opponents. Yes he has six daily points per contests in his last ten games. Now does he score from his normal parking spot on the left side? Okay maybe he needs a few points here.
Rick Nash ($8800) – The left winger feasts against teams that give him a ton of ice. Florida likes to play high event hockey and normally that does not work well against a Panthers team where the goaltender is in question. Will it be Ellis or Luongo? We ask again. Either way, Nash needs to start getting some power play points and the Florida penalty kill can be fickle on the road. We would also recommend Wayne Simmonds but the problem is Philadelphia might score a little less against Ottawa on Sunday.
Others I like: Mark Stone ($4700), Jaromir Jagr ($4600).
Value: Ryan White ($2900), Patrick Maroon ($2800).
Erik Karlsson ($8500) – Defense prices are a bit all over the place but this is why we often try to gamble with this and see what Karlsson can do against a Philadelphia team that might be a little too high after all those goals scored against Detroit. Opportunity meets a hell of a defensemen and yes the Flyers penalty kill is still in the bottom five. Okay, let’s roll with this and do not ask questions. By the way, could Karlsson have another multiple point effort? He really could.
John Carlson ($5700) – With facing Boston, this could really be a case of the number one power play unit defenseman needing this performance more for his own confidence than the team’s. Carlson has had chances to really be scorching hot but has not converted of late. Yes he still has six points in his last ten games. That is a weird stat but the numbers just indicate that he could be a little better and against playoff teams, the New Jersey native has come up a little small.
Others I like: Shea Weber/Roman Josi, Justin Faulk ($5600), Aaron Ekblad ($4100).
Value: David Savard ($2900), Karl Alzner ($2600), Willie Mitchell ($2500).
