We head into a Sunday slate that has just five games. Thankfully there are just four evening games on the docket so let’s get down to business.
For those wanting to up their risk factor, we have a high stake type of GPP just for you…..
Corey Crawford ($9300) – This is the safe play BUT even this one still has risks. Remember that when you get right down to it, Crawford has been very good over the last month or so. This is the fun part. Can he hold off St. Louis because they really do have a good bit of depth. The answer is he has done it before so why not again. Every play has risks here so we start with the least risky.
Others to Consider: Carey Price ($9200), Petr Mrazek ($7500)? — may be a very good play but risky.
Aleksander Barkov ($4900) – There are times where we go a different road and today is that day. Barkov has been right near a point a game over the past three weeks or so and that is why we take a bit of a GPP risk against a good team with a great goalie in Carey Price. Consider that Florida generates lots of chances, if they finish a few times, Barkov’s name appears at least one or twice on the score sheet so he could be a good pick.
Evgeny Kuznetsov ($3900) – Let’s keep pushing this a little further as Kuznetsov has been centering the top line in Washington and the results for him and Alex Ovechkin have been rather nice for DFS owners. Maybe this was the way to go all along for Washington and no one knows how long this pairing will last but for the young Russian, this is a great windfall and a very good price.
Others to Consider: Tyler Bozak ($5000), Kyle Turris ($6500), Pavel Datsyuk ($5600)
Values: Marcus Kruger ($2900), Leo Komarov ($2800)
Patrick Sharp ($7000) – This is the type of night where there is quite a few wingers out there for you to choose. However, fading the very high priced ones could be profitable as you construct your team. Patrick Sharp has snapped out of his long funk. Yes he only has seven points in his last ten games. However, a meeting with the Blues could ignite his point potential more.
Jaromir Jagr ($5000) – The old man finds a way. He has points in 12 of 14 games as a Panther and has given Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau quite a lift when it comes to point potential and production. About the only thing that has not trended too far upward is the power play but that will come in time. Florida draws a pretty good match-up against Montreal and Jagr could find his way in the boxscore at least once more.
Others to Consider: Alex Ovechkin ($9500), Tomas Tatar ($5000), Mark Stone ($4900), Joel Ward ($4100).
Values: Dmitrij Jaskin ($3000), Bryan Bickell ($2500).
Erik Karlsson ($8600) – The defense never rests! On this Easter Sunday, we enjoy the bounty that is Karlsson’s ability to generate points against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Swedish defenseman has 30 points in his last 26 games by the way so if you are not starting him, mostly everyone is. Pay the piper and just be glad that you did. It could be another multiple point game against Toronto.
Aaron Ekblad ($3800) – Yes this is a high risk GPP play considering the price and the drought that Ekblad suffered through before getting a point against Carolina. That was a very important assist as that could provide a nice boost going into the last week. Florida really has little else to play for so the pressure being off Ekblad and company may just be enough.
Others to Consider: John Carlson ($7500), Duncan Keith ($5800), Jeff Petry ($3800).
Values: Patrick Wiercioch ($3000), Kyle Quincey ($2800)
Thanks for reading guys and hopefully the picks help you out. If you have any questions, fire them away at me on twitter @ChrisWasselDFS and i’ll do my best to answer them.
