This article will identify the best line-stacking combos to use for fantasy hockey purposes every night. Considering that at least one player on a forward line will often get an assist on a goal when his line mate scores, stacking players from the same line can prove very fruitful for fantasy purposes. Use these targets to help identify some of your best options ever night.
High Priced First lines
Evgeny Kuznetsov ($5100) – Alexander Ovechkin ($9000) – TJ Oshie ($5200)
While Nick Backstrom is returning to the lineup tonight he’s slotted to be eased in on the second line which means Evgeny Kuznetsov will continue centring the duo of Oshie and Ovechkin. This trio started the season slowly but had a big game a couple nights ago and looks to be on track for another big game tonight. They will be getting a Carolina squad who might be in for a bit of a letdown after a nice win last night versus Detroit. I think value wise and upside wise this is probably one of the best lines to target for fantasy as the trio is affordable and all three of the players have multi-point upside. Don’t be shocked to see them dominate in fantasy tonight.
Others: the Stars have moved Patrick Sharp up to their first line with Seguin/Benn making the trio a great target too, they’re my other favorite top line tonight.
Alex Galchenyuk ($4600) – Lars Eller ($4000) – Alex Semin ($3800)
This trio hasn’t done a whole lot the past few games but there’s still potential here. Over the past three games they are getting the second most ice-time of any Canadians forward group and also the second most time on the PP as well. Tonight versus the Red Wings they likely won’t have to worry about getting matched up with Detroit’s top line and will have the non-defensively minded Brad Richards to go against on many shifts. This sets up as a potential breakout game for this trio and a multi-point effort could be had. If you’re looking to stack a cheap line which will let you fit in superstars everywhere else, this is it.
Others: The Panthers second line Nick Bjugstad/Brandon Pirri/Reilly Smith has started the season well and gets a great matchup against the run and gun stars. They could be a huge value play tonight too.
Ryan Johansen ($6300) – Brandon Saad ($5800) – Nick Foligno ($5300)
The Jackets have been awful defensively to start the season but haven’t had trouble finding the opponents net themselves. The Trio of Saad-Johansen-Foligno have been clicking along well and been getting a ton of ice time on the PP too. Many people might write them off due to the matchup tonight but Chicago hasn’t been great of late and the Blue Jackets are desperate right now for a win. There’s also a bit of a revenge narrative for Brandon Saad in this game as he’ll be playing the team that traded him over the offseason for the first time. Don’t be shocked to see him have another big game. Keep riding this line tonight as they’re a great contrarian play for tournaments.
Other: I like the Sharks duo of Pavelski and Thornton tonight. You can’t play their line-mate as he’s a late call up but I like the duo as a contrarian tournament play vs the Isles.
