This article will identify the best line-stacking combos to use for fantasy hockey purposes every night. Considering that at least one player on a forward line will often get an assist on a goal when his line mate scores, stacking players from the same line can prove very fruitful for fantasy purposes. Use these targets to help identify some of your best options every night.

High Priced First lines

Calgary Flames (vs. Arizona Coyotes)

Calgary Line Stacks

This one is pretty straight-forward, as it’s been very profitable to target skaters against the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes are now dead last in the league in goals against and have a bottom tier penalty-kill as well. The Flames aren’t exactly an offensive power-house, but their top duo of Manahan and Gaudreau certainly can still get it done for a night and have had numerous big correlation scoring games this year between them already. Its been a bit of a rotation as to who is playing with these two on the wing, but right now it looks like Michael Ferland will get the assignment. Ferland is more of an offensive-minded player and should also see some power-play time given how thin the Flames are up front. On a five game slate I’d definitely want a little exposure to the Flames (who have put together three solid games in a row) in a great matchup.

Value Trios

Arizona Coyotes (vs. Calgary Flames)

Antoine Vermette ($3900) – Anthony Duclair ($3900) – Alex Tanguay ($3600)

The Flames and Coyotes have the biggest projected game total on the slate, and while I like targeting the Flames skates, I do think it’s completely viable to look at Arizona for some value plays tonight. You could probably target either of the Coyotes top lines, as they both offer similar potential, but I think for the price you’re getting a little more upside with this trio. This line had a couple big games in a row after getting put together, but they have cooled off since. In this matchup, though, against the equally inept Flames, there will be ample opportunity for a bounce back. All three men play on the power-play, and against the worst penalty-kill in the league (Calgary), I think the matchup alone is enough on its own to target this line if you need a cheap stack tonight.

Contrarian Pick

Chicago Blackhawks (vs. Dallas Stars)

Jonathan Toews ($6000) – Andrew Ladd ($5400) – Andrew Shaw ($4300)

There will likely be a ton of people targeting the Hawks big scoring line (Kane-Panarin-Anisimov) tonight, so why not zig while everyone else is zagging? The Hawks are still down Marian Hossa but did acquire Andrew Ladd at the deadline, and he’s now playing alongside the captain Jonathan Toews every night. Ladd’s already scored once in his new digs, and this game seems ripe for him to be able to continue the streak. Ladd’s addition definitely adds some upside to this line and against the high-powered Dallas offense, I expect Toews and Ladd to see plenty of ice-time. While there’s always the concern that this line will spend all night checking the Seguin-Benn line, don’t forget that, in general, Dallas’ big line doesn’t exactly excel in defending, so there could more offensive opportunities for these three than normal. This trio are playing together at even strength and on the power-play, which make them a pretty potent trio for stacking, and I think, given the matchup, they make for a pretty interesting tournament target tonight.
