Washington Capitals @ Colorado Avalanche

Alex Ovechkin ($8,300) – Nicklas Backstrom ($7,100) – T.J. Oshie ($6,500)

This line had a huge game last night against the Wild, and they have an even better matchup tonight against the Avalanche. Ovie potted his second hat-trick of the season last night and added an assist to cap off a four-point night. All three of his goals came on the power play (PP), and he added six shots on goal (SOG). He has points in four of his last five games, with a power play point (PPP) in three of those games. Backstrom had three assists last night and also has points in four of his last five. He has 11 points and six PPP in those four games. Oshie snapped a two-game slump with a pair of goals last night. He has six goals and nine points in his last five games.

St. Louis Blues @ Arizona Coyotes

Vladimir Tarasenko ($7,600) – Alexander Steen ($5,300) – Jaden Schwartz ($5,700)

Another line that had a big outing in their last game is the Blues’ top line, which combined for 10 points on Monday against these same Coyotes. Tarasenko had a goal and two assists and added six SOG giving him points in three of his last four, and he has 11 points in his last 10 games. Schwartz had two goals and an assist, and pushed his point streak to four games. He has 17 SOG in that four-game span. Steen snapped a four-game scoring drought with four assists on Monday. Arizona is allowing the fifth-most goals against per game in the NHL this month.

Superstar to Build Around

Johnny Gaudreau ($6,800) – Gaudreau put up another multi-point game on Monday against the Avalanche giving him three multi-point games on his current five-game point streak. He netted a power play goal (PPG) and added an assist and one SOG. Gaudreau has two goals and seven assists on his current five-game point streak and has 14 points in his last 10 games overall. He has three points in three games against the Kings this season.

Value on Offense

Sven Andrighetto ($3,500) – Andrighetto has a nice three-game point streak going at the moment and is coming off a two-goal game against the Flames on Monday night, with one of his goals coming on the PP. He has three goals, one assist and five SOG in his last three games.

Nick Schmaltz ($4,500) – Schmaltz has been bounced around the Hawks’ lineup as of late but finds himself on the Chicago first line with Jonathan Toews and Richard Panik. He’s coming off a two-assist game on Monday against the Lightning and has six assists in his last five games.

Stud Goalies

USATSI_9970681_168381090_lowres

Brian Elliott ($8,200) – Elliott continued his impressive run as of late, losing only once in his last 14 games. He has won both of his starts since that loss last week to the Capitals and has another favorable matchup tonight against the Kings. Elliott is 2-1-0 against LA so far this season, and the Kings are bottom-five in the league in scoring both on the season and this month.

Jake Allen ($8,300) – Allen was strong again on Monday against the Coyotes, stopping 21 of 22 shots he faced. It was his fourth win in his last five starts and he has not lost in regulation in any of those outings. He’s 8-1-1 with a 1.39 goals against average in his last 10 games and he faces those same Coyotes tonight.

Value on Defense

Cameron Gaunce ($2,800) – Gaunce has seen time sparingly this season, and over his young career as a whole, drawing into only nine games but scoring four points when he’s been in. He had a multi-point game against the Islanders last week and is seeing solid minutes with the Penguins’ defensive corps as depleted as they are at the moment.

Trevor van Riemsdyk ($3,300) – The other van Riemsdyk is having himself a solid scoring run at the moment. Not much for offense, TVR has an assist in four of his last five games. He’s averaging just under 3.0 FPTs per game in that span, up from his 2.0 average on the season.

Power Play Defensemen

Kevin Shattenkirk ($5,400) – Not only is Shattenkirk producing at the moment, he’s doing it in all situations. He has nine points so far in 12 games with the Capitals with five coming on the PP. He has five points and two multi-point games in his last four outings, with three points on the PP. He is also garnering solid peripheral coverage with six blocks and 13 SOG in that span.

Alex Pietrangelo ($5,700) – Pietrangelo has points in four of his last six and in six of his last 10 games overall. He has eight points in his last 10 games with three coming on the PP. He is seeing great category coverage with 22 blocks and 25 SOG in that time span, averaging 4.3 FPTs per game in his last 10 games. He scored a goal and added three blocks and three SOG against the Coyotes on Monday, and he faces Arizona again tonight on the road.
