Top Lines of the Night

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Ottawa Senators

Nikita Kucherov ($7,700) – Ondrej Palat ($5,200) – Brayden Point ($4,500)

Kucherov continued his utter dominance of the league, collecting his fifth multi-point game in his last 10 games. He has 20 points (10g, 10a) and 46 shots on goal (SOG) in his last 10 games. Palat picked up an assist last night, giving him a three-game point streak. He has also fired off nine SOG in that span. Point bumped up to this line with Tyler Johnson out and promptly netted a multi-goal game, with one coming on the power play (PP). He added three SOG in the game as well. This line has a tough draw tonight, but the trio has combined for 12 points in three games against Ottawa this season.

San Jose Sharks vs Buffalo Sabres

Joe Pavelski ($7,400) – Joe Thornton ($5,000) – Jannik Hansen ($4,000)

Pavelski and Thornton come into tonight’s matchup very productive as of late. Pavelski has points in three of his last four games, and all three of those games were multi-point outings. He is coming off a two-goal, six SOG outing against the Stars. Thornton enters tonight riding a four-game point streak with a goal and four assists in that span. Jumbo Joe has dished out 39 assists on the season. Hansen debuted last week for the Sharks on this line and has one point in three games there so far. Hansen does have a goal against the Sabres from his time with the Canucks this season.

Superstar to Build Around

Connor McDavid ($8,000) – Despite having only one point in his last three games, I think McDaivd is a great target tonight with his impending matchup against Dallas. He had a power play goal (PPG) on Friday against the Penguins and has 13 SOG in his last three games, after posting eight points in his previous seven games. McDavid has four points in two prior meetings with the Stars this season.

Update: The Jets/Devils game has been postponed due to severe weather.

Patrik Laine ($7,300) – Laine snapped a brief two-game scoring drought with a goal last night against the Predators. He fired off seven SOG in the losing effort. He has been great this season, and in his last 10 games, he has six goals, 12 points and 34 SOG. He has a prime matchup tonight against the Devils, who have allowed three goals against or more in four of their last five games. Laine netted a goal and added three SOG in his only game against the Devils earlier this season.

Value on Offense

Tyler Bozak ($4,700) – Bozak picked up an assist on Saturday to extend his point streak to five games. He has two goals, four assists, three power play points (PPP) and 13 SOG. Bozak has nine points in his last nine games overall, and two goals against the Panthers this season.

Andrew Ladd ($4,000) – It has been a disappointing season for Ladd but he has come on very strong as of late for the Isles. He picked up an assist last night against Carolina, pushing his point streak to four games. He has two goals, two assists and 13 SOG in those four outings.

Stud Goalies

USATSI_9938197_168381090_lowres

Carey Price ($7,800) – Price stopped 24 of 25 shots on Sunday against the Oilers to push his win streak to six games. He’s 7-3-0 with a 1.58 goals against average (GAA) and a .944 save percentage (SV%) in his last 10 games. He has allowed only one goal in each of his last four starts and has allowed more than two goals only once in his last 10 games.

Martin Jones ($8,300) – Jones will get the nod tonight as the Sharks host the Sabres in San Jose. Jones is having another great season, sitting sixth in the league in wins and ninth in GAA. He’s allowed two goals or less in each of his last six starts and on the season is 16-8-4 with a 2.11 GAA at home.

Value on Defense

Fredrik Claesson ($2,900) – Claesson has been surprisingly productive in limited action this season, posting nine points in 22 games. He is on a tear at the moment with points in three straight games. He has two goals, two assists, six blocks and four SOG on his current scoring run.

Jaccob Slavin ($3,900) – Slavin notched a hat-trick last night against the Islanders in the Hurricanes 8-4 beat down in Brooklyn. He added an assist, three SOG and a blocked shot to cap a 15.5 FPTS night. Salvin has been very impressive as of late with points in six of his last eight games. The Canes and Islanders finish their back-to-back, home-and-home series tonight in Carolina.

Power Play Defensemen

Brent Burns ($8,400) – Burns has been uncharacteristically missing from the Sharks scoresheet as of late, recording points in only one of his last five outings. The one was a three-assist night on Thursday against Washington. Still, overall, he is posting solid numbers in his last 10 games with nine points, four PPP, 16 blocked shots and 33 SOG. In his only other game against Buffalo this season, Burns dished out a pair of assists, one on the PP, and added four SOG for a 6.0 FPTs outing. Burns tops all position players tonight with a 5.2 FPTS average per game this season.

Update: The Jets/Devils game has been postponed due to severe weather.

Dustin Byfuglien ($6,100) – Byfuglien scored his 11th goal of the season last night against the Predators, adding three SOG and two blocked shots. He has two goals and 14 SOG in his last four games. Overall Buff has 10 points, three PPP, 13 blocks and 37 SOG in his last 10 games. He leads the Jets’ top PP unit tonight against the Devils, who rank 18th in the NHL in Penalty Kill.

Rasmus Ristolainen ($5,400) – Ristolainen dished out a pair of helpers on Saturday night, one on the PP, to push his point streak to three games. He has points in five of his last six overall, with four special teams points. He’s getting great category coverage with eight points, 15 blocks and 30 SOG in his last 10 games.
