Top Lines of the Night

New Jersey Devils vs Buffalo Sabres

Taylor Hall ($6,300) – Travis Zajac ($4,200) – Kyle Palmieri ($4,700)

Hall pushed his point streak to three games with an impressive two-goal, eight shots on goal (SOG) performance against the Blue Jackets on Saturday night. Hall has two goals, two assists (one on the power play (PP)), and 13 SOG in his three games since the All-Star break. Zajac got in on the scoring with a multi-point game of his own against Columbus. He had a power play goal (PPG) and added an assist while firing off three shots. Palmieri joins Hall with a three-game point streak of his own. He had an assist against the Jackets and three SOG, giving him three goals and an assist in his last three games. This trio has combined for five points in two games against the Sabres this season.

New York Islanders vs Toronto Maple Leafs

John Tavares ($7,600) – Anders Lee ($5,000) – Josh Bailey ($4,900)

This line has been driving the Islanders as of late and had a big weekend despite two tough losses for the team. Tavares was shutout on Saturday by the Hurricanes which snapped a four-game point streak. He had seven points, three multi-point games and 14 SOG in that streak. Lee has been fantastic since he moved to Tavares’ wing in December. Lee has back-to-back multi-point games and points in three of his last four. He has one power play point (PPP) in each of those three games. Bailey has points in four of his last five games, and has a goal in each of those four games. He has four goals (two PPG), one assist and 17 SOG in his last five games. Tavares and Bailey each have a point against Toronto this season.

Superstar to Build Around

Auston Matthews ($7,800) – Matthews snapped a three-game pointless drought in a big way on Saturday. The rookie picked up three assists, one PP assist and three SOG in the Leafs 6-5 win over the Bruins. Matthews has been very impressive this season posting 23 goals and 42 points in 50 games, and the rookie sits eighth in the league with 172 SOG. In his only game against the Islanders this season he posted four shots.

Value on Offense

Sam Reinhart ($4,400) – Reinhart has been a solid contributor for the Sabres this season, and he gets a bump from playing with Jack Eichel. Reinhart snapped a three-game pointless streak with a goal against Ottawa over the weekend. He posted his 11th goal and had four SOG on Saturday against the Senators.

Ryan Strome ($3,600) – Strome seems to beginning to turn things around under Doug Weight. The Isles’ forward is riding a three-game point streak and is coming off a two-assist game on Saturday vs the Hurricanes. He has a goal and three assists, one PP assist and six SOG in three games since the break.

Stud Goalies

USATSI_9656594_168381090_lowres

Michal Neuvirth ($7,700) – Neuvirth has been fantastic in his last three outings, posting a 2-0-1 record and allowing a total of three goals against Toronto, Montreal and LA. He took a 1-0 OT loss on Saturday against LA, and allowed only one goal in each of his other two games, both wins. Neuvirth has had an up-and-down season when he’s been healthy, but I think he’s a good option while he’s on his current hot streak.

Thomas Greiss ($7,800) – Greiss allowed five goals on 24 shots in Detroit on Friday night, but he gets the nod vs the Leafs at home tonight. At Barclays Center this season, Greiss is 10-4-1 with a 2.25 goals against average (GAA) and a .924 save percentage (SV%). He held the Leafs to one goal on 34 shots to pick up the win in their last meeting this season.

Value on Defense

Ben Lovejoy ($3,000) – This is a weak night for offensive defensemen, but Lovejoy is a nice candidate as a value flier. He has an assist in two of his last three games and he has added three SOG and four blocks over that span.

Adam Pelech ($3,200) – Pelech has looked very solid stepping in for Travis Hamonic, and he has three points in his last 10 games. He picked up an assist on Saturday vs the Hurricanes and added two SOG in almost 15 minutes of ice time.

Power Play Defensemen

Alex Pietrangelo ($5,200) – Pietrangelo had back-to-back multi-point games coming out of the break posting a goal and four assists, before being shutout against Pittsburgh on Saturday. Pietrangelo had a PP assist in the second game, giving him three PP assists in his last 10 games, and 10 PPP on the year.

Mark Streit ($3,900) – Streit is taking on more playing time and seeing more chances for production with Shayne Gostisbehere benched for the time-being. He has two assists in his last three games, one on the PP, while posting four SOG and seven blocks. He’s running the point on the Flyers’ top PP line.
