Fantasy Hockey Cheat Sheet: Top NHL Picks, Values, Goalies for January 10

There are 12 games on the NHL fantasy hockey slate tonight, featuring the Oilers and Connor McDavid ($8,200) squaring off against the Panthers. It’s an all New York battle between the Rangers and Islanders. The Golden Knights square off against the Sharks. Here are my top picks, line stacks and stud goalies you should consider for your lineup.

Top Line Stacks

Stars at Flyers

Jamie Benn ($5,900) – Tyler Seguin ($7,400) – Alexander Radulov ($7,500)

The CEO of the Stars called out two of the Stars’ best players, and they’ve responded. Seguin is on a six-game point streak and has collected 10 points in those games. He’s averaging 4.6 FPPG and has potted five goals on the PP. Benn is producing 3.6 fantasy points per contest and has sniped 17 goals this year. Radulov has tallied one goal and seven assists on his four-game point streak.

Jets at Wild

Kyle Connor ($5,400) – Mark Scheifele ($7,000) – Blake Wheeler ($7,000) The Jets are one of the most dynamic teams in the NHL, and their No. 1 line is a major reason why. Wheeler collected four points (1G, 3A) in their most recent game and has dished out 48 assists this season. He is producing 4.6 FPPG and has tallied 21 helpers on the PP. Scheifele has recorded 23 goals and is averaging 4.7 FPPG. He has produced seven goals on the man advantage. Connor has scored in two straight games and is collecting 3.4 FPPG.

Superstar to Build Around

Connor McDavid, EDM vs. FLA, $8,200 — If the Oilers score a goal, McDavid is probably involved. He has 63 points (24G, 29A) and is averaging 5.4 FPPG. He has recorded five goals and 10 assists in the past 10 contests. McDavid has produced six goals and 14 helpers on the power play, and 11 of his goals have come at home.

Value on Offense

Bobby Ryan, OTT at LA, $4,700 — Ryan has been the Senators’ best player as of late. He’s on a five-game point streak and has recorded six points in those contests. Five of his eight goals have come on the road and has sniped two goals on the power play. Ryan is averaging 3.3 fantasy points over the past 10 games.

Jake DeBrusk, BOS vs. WAS, $4,500 — The Bruins’ left-winger has potted four goals in the past five games and is averaging 2.9 FPPG. He sees time on the power play and has recorded five goals with the man advantage. Nine of DeBrusk’s 14 goals have come at TD Garden.

Stud Goalies

Andrei Vasilevskiy, TB vs. CAR, $8,400 — Tampa Bay’s No. 1 goalie has produced a GAA of 2.55, a save percentage of .923 and 17 wins. He’s averaging 6.2 FPPG and has collected two shutouts this year. He’s 8-1-1 in his past 10 games and is a career 5-0-0 against the Hurricanes.

Carey Price, MON at STL, $8,000 — Carey Price has lost his past two starts, so he’s due for a victory tonight. Price has won 16 games this year and has 2.71 GAA. He’s averaging 4.2 fantasy points per game and has two shutouts this season. Price has five career wins against the Blues, which includes one shutout.

Value on Defense

Keith Yandle, FLA at EDM, $5,400 — The Panthers’ d-man has recorded three assists in the past two games. He’s collected 17 points (5G, 17A) on the power play this season and is averaging 3.5 FPPG. Yandle dished out an assist in the Panthers’ previous matchup against the Oilers.

Dougie Hamilton, CAR at TB, $4,900 — Hamilton reportedly is on the trade block, and he’s producing points for interested teams. He’s on a four-game point streak and has collected three goals and five helpers in those four contests. Hamilton is averaging 3.0 FPPG, and two of his goals have come on the road.

Jacob Trouba, WPG at MIN, $4,800 — Trouba has been an offensive weapon as of late for the Jets. He has produced one goal and four assists in the past two contests. He has sniped two goals and dished out two helpers on the power play. Trouba is averaging 3.1 FPPG and produced a total of 18.5 fantasy points in the past two games.

Power-Play Defensemen

Brent Burns, SJ at VGK, $6,600 — The Sharks’ d-man is rolling and producing points for his squad. He has recorded four goals and 11 assists in the past 10 games. Burns has sniped five goals and tallied 15 assists on the PP. In the past four games he’s scored two goals and dished out two assists with the man advantage. The d-man is averaging 4.8 FPPG this year.

John Carlson, WAS at BOS, $6,200 — Carlson quarterbacks the Capitals’ power play, and it’s working so far. He has scored one goal and produced 17 assists on the power play. Carlson is averaging 4.3 FPPG, and he scored a goal while dishing out an assist in Washington’s most recent matchup against the Bruins.
