Denver Broncos Wide Receiver Demaryius Thomas has a unique story — he has played 92 game as a professional football player, and his mother has never seen him play one of these in person.

Per NFL.com:
“[Katrina] Smith (Demaryius’ mother) was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2000 on a drug trafficking charge. She’s spent her son’s entire professional career rooting him on from federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida. In July, President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 46 federal prisoners, including Smith. She was released to a halfway house on Nov. 10, but couldn’t travel for 60 days.”

Well at long last and just in time for the Broncos’ AFC Divisional Series game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers: Smith finally was permitted a release to watch her son play live. After the Broncos secured the Steelers’ onside kick attempt with less than a minute left, Peyton trotted out to take one final knee to end the game. Before the clock hit zero, Manning made sure Demariyus’ mother would have a memento from the day — giving the game ball to Thomas on the field:

Hey, you know what? Sports can be kinda cool sometimes!
