DraftKings and ESPN Reach Exclusive Deal
It’s been announced that ESPN, “The Worldwide Leader in Sports,” and DraftKings have reached an exclusive agreement that makes DraftKings the official daily fantasy sports offering throughout ESPN’s platforms. The agreement also includes an exclusive advertising relationship between the two.
ESPN has already positioned itself as the leader in fantasy sports for more than 20 years, and they were the first to launch online fantasy drafts and fantasy sports content. According to ESPNmediazone.com, “Today, more than 12 million sports fans play ESPN Fantasy games across its four top games alone and ESPN Fantasy Football is the number one fantasy football game in the industry, with over 25 million transactions and 47 million alerts per week.”
With the agreement comes integration of the DraftKings brand and promotional opportunities on digital fronts and television throughout both ESPN and DraftKings platforms. DraftKings CEO, Jason Robbins commented on the agreement, “We are thrilled to be working closely with ESPN. Together we will provide fans with the most robust, diverse and comprehensive fantasy sports experience.”
ESPN’s President and Co-Chaiman of Disney Media Networks John Skipper also shared the excitement of the agreement, “ESPN and DraftKings share a history of innovating and advancing fantasy sports to serve this passionate fan base. DraftKings is a dynamic company – deeply connected to its fans – and we’re excited to have them on board as our official daily fantasy sports offering.”
