The Nuggets are hosting the Bucks at the Pepsi Center on Friday night, but they will be battling a long list of injuries.
Danilo Gallinari has already been ruled out, while Nikola Jokic ($9,300), Kenneth Faried ($6,000), Will Barton ($5,400) and Emmanuel Mudiay ($4,500) are all listed as questionable.
Jokic had been one of the most dominant centers in the league prior to sustaining a hip injury, scoring 64.5 DKFP in his last game. If he were to suit up on Friday night (assuming he’s not on a minutes restriction), he’d certainly be a player to target against a Bucks team that just traded away one of their big men and is allowing an average of 59 DKFP to centers over the last 10 games.
Here are some Nuggets targets that should be more trustworthy given their status.
Kenneth Faried – PF ($6,000) — I mentioned Faried is questionable, but it would be surprising if he didn’t suit up for this one. He becomes a very attractive play when Jokic is out of the lineup for all the reasons I mentioned above regarding Milwaukee’s struggles against centers. The Manimal has exceeded value in his last four games, including 49.75 and 41.75 DKFP performances with Jokic sidelined.
Wilson Chandler – SF/PF ($5,700) — Chandler is my favorite Nuggets’ play tonight for multiple reasons. For starters, the unfortunate injury bug going around in Denver should really benefit Chandler individually — particularly Gallinari being ruled out. Barton has also missed Denver’s last two games, so his status is very much up in the air. Chandler should see a ton of minutes on the perimeter against a Bucks team that ranks just 29th in the NBA vs. SFs — allowing over 47 DKFP on average this season.
Jamal Murray – PG/SG ($3,600) — The rookie’s been taking advantage of his opportunities when they’re given to him — exceeding value in three consecutive contests. Murray’s averaging 24 DKFP over that span, scoring more DKFP in each game that he did in the last. Even more important, Murray’s minutes have gone up in each of the three games, maxing out at 32 on Wednesday against Memphis. If Mudiay is out, Murray becomes a big time value play; however, even if Mudiay plays, the rookie has shown enough potential lately to remain in the rotation.
Darrell Arthur – PF/C ($3,200) — Arthur’s value depends solely on Jokic’s status. If he’s unable to go, then Arthur becomes a very attractive value target. In Denver’s last two games, Arthur’s been averaging 18 minutes, but producing big numbers (nearly 25 DKFP per game). He should help Faried try and take advantage of Milwaukee in the paint.
