While most everyone will be focused on the big game today, there is still some basketball to be played. Six teams are on the schedule tipping off at Noon ET which should provide a nice diversion from the New England and Atlanta pregame hype.

Point Guards

Studs

Russell Westbrook – OKC vs POR – $12,800 – Westbrook has twenty-four triple doubles on the season, and it is hard not to imagine him notching another one Sunday. There are not many other ways to make up the raw points that Westy will compile, so I think he’s a very tough fade on this short Sunday slate.

Isaiah Thomas – BOS vs LAC – $10,500 – Thomas has been phenomenal over his last seven games with a 53.4 DraftKings point average, and is he my pivot of choice away from Westbrook in this matchup against the Clippers who have been absolutely torched by opposing point guards over their last three games, allowing 48.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 10.3 assists and 1.6 combined blocks/steals.

Other Options – Damian Lillard ($7,500)

Values

Cory Joseph – TOR at BKN – $3,200 – CoJo should see plenty of action in mop up duty with the Raptors taking on the sieve like defense of the Brooklyn Nets who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing point guards this season. Also, Kyle Lowry missed Saturday’s practice with an illness, so if Toronto can cruise out to a lead, it would make sense that he will be relieved by Joseph.

Other Options – Raymond Felton ($4,900)

Shooting Guards

Studs

C.J. McCollum – POR at OKC – $7,200 – From my early lineup construction, this looks to be the position that most could be be looking to “punt” on this slate. That of course provides us a game theory opportunity to roster the likely top scoring option who could go overlooked.

Other Options – Victor Oladipo ($5,400), Marcus Smart ($5,600)

Values

Jamal Crawford – LAC at BOS – $4,700 – Crawford seems to have worked his way out of his slump and he has surpassed 27 DraftKings points in four of his last five games. With Chris Paul out, he is seeing more time running the second unit as Austin Rivers and Raymond Felton have been getting heavy minutes as the two main ball handlers.

Other OptionsJ.J. Redick (5,200), Sean Kilpatrick ($4,200)

Small Forwards

Studs

Jae Crowder – BOS vs LAC – $6,200 – Crowder should see plenty of court time as the Celtics are going to need his defense to help out on Blake Griffin and as part of the double team on DeAndre Jordan in the low post. While foul trouble could be a concern, I think Crowder could be a nice, under-the-radar play on a short slate as the only option above $6,000 at the position.

Other Options – Norman Powell ($5,700)

Values

Raymond Felton – LAC at BOS – $4,900 – Much like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Felton has PG/SF eligibility, but that is where the comparisons end. There are not many options at this position today, which will likely drive up the popularity of Felton, but he is a viable option regardless of his designated “position” in the Clippers lineup.

Other Options – Evan Turner ($5,000)

Power Forwards

Studs

Blake Griffin – LAC at BOS – $8,600 – After a month long recuperation from arthroscopic knee surgery, Griffin has been phenomenal in his return. This is buoyed by the absence of Chris Paul, but he gets a terrific matchup against a Celtics’ frontcourt lacking an answer for his offensive prowess.

Values

Kelly Olynyk – BOS vs LAC – $3,700 – KO can put up the points in a short amount of time when his shot is dropping, and I think we should expect to see him get 20ish minutes as coach Brad Stevens will probably run him out there in an effort to draw DeAndre Jordan away from the basket on defense.

Joffrey Lauvergne – OKC vs POR – $3,200 – This is a good matchup for King Joffrey to get some run since the Trailblazers really don’t have an imposing frontcourt. He could approach 20 minutes with Enes Kanter on the shelf and similarly could approach 20 DraftKings points at a major discount.

Other Options – Lucas Nogueira ($3,600), Marreese Speights ($3,600)

Centers

Studs

DeAndre Jordan – LAC at BOS – $7,000 – Boston has been a bottom five team against opposing centers for most of the season, and we know that DeAndre Jordan possesses 20/20 upside. Now that is a tall order without Chris Paul orchestrating Lob City; however, it is not outrageous to think that DAJ will flirt with the forty fantasy point plateau in this matchup.

Other Options – Brook Lopez ($6,700)

Values

Steven Adams – OKC vs POR – $5,600 – Rolling with two centers is going to be the preferred method of lineup construction on this abbreviated early slate for me, since that is where the bulk of the best point per dollar players reside. Adams should see production in the 25-40 DraftKings point range, and I think he is a nice option to pair with Russell Westbrook.

Other Options – Lucas Nogueira ($3,600), Marreese Speights ($3,600)
