The NBA is going toe-to-toe with the NFL on Sunday with two games beginning at 1:00pm ET.  There are seven overall games on the slate with the four games beginning at 5:00pm ET featured in the larger prize pools.  Speaking of which, DraftKings has guaranteed just over $1.0 million dollars in cash and ticket qualifier contests.  Not too shabby for fans of the round ball sport!

Point Guards

STUDS

Brandon Knight – PHO vs MIL – $7,300 – Knight will be welcoming his old team in Phoenix Sunday and this is actually a nice matchup for him.  With all the injuries suffered by the Milwaukee backcourt over the last three weeks, the Bucks have slipped from a middle-of-the-road defense against opposing point guards to the bottom third of the league.  They are not so tough against shooting guards either, so it will be interesting to see how they choose to defend both Brandon Knight and teammate Eric Bledsoe – $8,400

Kyle Lowry – TOR vs SAC – $8,300 – This will be the third game in four nights for the Raptors, but fortunately they are back at home after a three game road trip.  Lowry has been outstanding this season and he is in the mix for 40+ DraftKings points every time he takes the court.  For most of the season the Kings have been among the best teams to pick on with point guards.  Lowry is a top option in all formats Sunday

VALUES

Matthew Dellavedova – CLE vs PHI – $4,700 – With Kyrie Irving making his return today, most gamers are going to pass right over Dellavedova.  This would be a mistake since Irving is going to be treated with kid gloves in this lopsided matchup against the 76ers.  Veteran Mo Williams has already been ruled out with his thumb injury, paving the way for Dellavedova to see 27-30 minutes in this matchup.

Shooting Guards

STUDS

Eric Bledsoe – PHO vs MIL – $8,400 – Focusing on shooting guards facing the Sacramento Kings has been a lucrative strategy for the last couple seasons as they are horrendous against two guards.  Once again they are one of the worst teams in the league and over the last three seasons they have allowed the most fantasy points to the position.

Will Barton – DEN vs NOR– $6,200 – Barton is a solid mid-tier option in this matchup with the Pelicans who have struggled this season with shooting guards, which is no wonder since their backcourt does not believe in playing defense.  Barton projects to have a 25 fantasy point floor in this matchup and we have seen him reach the 40 fantasy point plateau on occasion, including twice in his last five games.

VALUES

Khris Middleton – MIL at PHO – $5,500 – Over his last seven games, Middleton is averaging just a tick over 39 minutes of court time and he has been a solid producer with 14.7 points, 1.6 three-pointers, 3.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.8 combined blocks/steals.  Of course with uber-megalomaniac Jason Kidd running the show, there is always latent risk associated with rostering Milwaukee players.

Small Forwards

STUDS

Rudy Gay – SAC at TOR – $7,000 – With DeMarre Carroll out for another week, the Raptors are missing a lock-down defender that could keep Rudy Gay in check.  While he has been a bit pedestrian this season, he did remind us all of his fantastic upside on Tuesday against Houston when he put together a very robust 51.8 DraftKings point performance.

VALUES

Omri Casspi – SAC at TOR – $6,000 – Casspi disappointed his backers on Friday with a sub-20 DraftKings point performance, however, he is still seeing a ton of minutes so he should be able to shake that off and produce a much better stat line in this matchup.  In the three games leading up to Friday he was averaging 16.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and a steal which works out to 35 fantasy points per game.  Casspi is a solid building block in all formats Sunday.

Shabazz Muhammad – MIN at BKN – $3,600 – Shabazz has been on a roll and he tied his season high of 16 points against Sacramento on Friday night.  He has posted 22+ DraftKings points in four of his last seven games making him a solid discount dandy at his price point, with room for upside.

Power Forwards

STUDS

DeMarcus Cousins – SAC at TOR – $10,000 – Cousins looks to be getting back to full health as evidenced by his 47.5+ DraftKings points in each of his last four games.  The Raptors simply to not have anyone that can guard him, particularly Bismack Biyombo.  In the seven games where they have played against each other, Cousins is averaging 24.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.6 combined blocks/steals.  It is worth the price of admission tonight to dance with Boogie.

Anthony Davis – NO at DEN – $10,300 – Doubling down on the two best power forwards is certainly a fine way to begin constructing lineups for Sunday, though it will require a strong stomach as well as a couple extreme discount plays.  Excluding the last meeting at the end of November when The Brow only played six minutes as the result of an injury, Davis has averaged 20.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.9 combined blocks/steals in eight prior games against the Nuggets.

VALUES

Luis Scola – TOR vs PHI – $5,000 – Scola’s price has steadily been inching upwards with his solid play filling in for the injured Jonas Valanciunas.  He has surpassed 26 DraftKings points in four of his last six games and he is a fine contrarian option as most gamers will shy away from this matchup against the Sacramento Kings.  If you need savings, then teammate Patrick Patterson – $3,900 is another option for use in tournaments as he is well off the beaten path.

Centers

STUDS

Hassan Whiteside – MIA vs POR– $6,600 – Portland does not have anyone who can match up with Whiteside and on paper, this looks like it could be a 40+ fantasy point opportunity for Hassan.

VALUES

Gorgui Dieng – MIN at BKN – $5,300 – With Brook Lopez’ extreme aversion to rebounding, this looks like the perfect spot for Dieng to post a double double.  Even with Kevin Garnett and Tayshaun Prince getting ceremonial starts, Dieng gets more minutes cementing him as a solid value option Sunday.

Andrea Bargnani – BKN vs MIN – $3,400 – Here is one of the extreme discounts that can help facilitate a stars and scrubs lineup.  Bargnani has played 21+ minutes in four of his last five games and when he is on the court he averages about a fantasy point per minute.  He is in play to achieve 6-7x value in this matchup on Sunday.
