The Vegas Lines
Highest Scoring Games
Kings vs. Hornets – The Kings have been an interesting team this year with the addition of Rajon Rondo. Surprisingly, even though my Hornets are playing, this game has an o/u of 207. If I spend up in this game it will be for DeMarcus Cousins and I may take a shot on some Marvin Williams exposure as well.
76ers vs. Timberwolves – The second highest o/u is set at 198. The 76ers are playing terrible basketball, but Robert Covington has inserted himself back into the lineup. With young post talent on both sides of the court, this will be a rookie of the year battle. I would insert Towns into my line, before Okafor this evening.
Lowest Scoring Games
Pistons vs. Bucks – The Pistons and the Bucks play like most of the Eastern Conference. Their pace of play is built on getting the ball into the post. With an o/u of 191.5, this is the lowest scoring game of the night. The matchup in itself has me staying away, especially when there is better value on the night.
Pace of Play
Fastest Projected Games
Kings vs. Hornets – Are you kidding me, my Hornets as one of the fastest projected games. The pace of this one won’t have anything to do with the Hornets. The Kings are the fastest paced team of the night and the game pace is projected at 100.3. Based on pace and point total, I like a lot of the plays in this one.
Slowest Projected Games
Magic vs. Cavaliers – I know, you are wondering why I don’t have the Jazz in this spot. The Jazz are playing the Thunder and we all know that Russell Westbrook controls the pace of Thunder games. This game has a projected pace of 97.5 and should be one of the slower on the night.
Defense vs. Position
Best PG Matchups
Brandon Knight vs. Tony Parker – Knight exploded two games ago with a 68 fantasy point performance. The Spurs have been weak against the PG position. I think Knight will have a lot of opportunities tonight.
Worst PG Matchups
Jose Calderon vs. Goran Dragic – Calderon has been an up and down guy on the year, but he has hit value in his last two games. He even had the opportunity to post 31 fantasy points against the Thunder. Dragic and the Heat are ranked number one against opposing PGs. With better options out there tonight, Calderon doesn’t rank high on my list.
Best SG Matchups
Rodney Hood vs. Andre Roberson – Just like the Laker’s can’t guard PG’s, the Thunder can’t guard SG’s. Hood has exploded for 25 and 27 fantasy points over the last 3 games. He has a great opportunity to make value tonight.
Worst SG Matchups
Eric Bledsoe vs. Danny Green – This is one of those, looks bad on paper, but not so much in real life plays. The Spurs have been great against opposing SG’s. Bledsoe has been great on the year and is within the top 5 in usage tonight. The Spurs defense is the only reason I am staying away.
Best SF Matchups
LeBron James vs. Tobias Harris – LBJ gets an easy matchup against Tobias Harris tonight. The King will look to expand his over eleven 35 fantasy point games tonight.
Worst SF Matchups
Giannis Antetokounmpo vs. Marcus Morris – Between Kris Middleton and the Greek Freak, this is where most of the Bucks scoring comes from. Marcus Morris has rejuvenated his career in Detroit, and he has been playing great defense. He may give the Greek Freak a run for his money.
Best PF Matchups
Marvin Williams vs. Willie Cauley-Stein – Marvin has played over 28 minutes the last 3 games. He has also been great during the first part of the season for the Hornets. I think he will be more than the rookie can handle tonight.
Worst PF Matchups
Serge Ibaka vs. Derrick Favors – Nobody in the league should want to be defriended like Derrick Favors. Favors is the best PF defender in the league. Serge plays decent basketball, but will have split usage with Westy and possibly Durant tonight. This brings down his value.
Best C Matchups
Karl-Anthony Towns vs. Jahlil Okafor – I love this matchup, for rookie reasons and just because it’s a battle of the big men. Karl should get the best of Jahlil tonight, but this will definitely be a fun one.
Worst C Matchups
Greg Monroe vs. Andre Drummond – Monroe draws the best young C in the league. Drummond is a rebound machine and has been playing great basketball. I don’t know if the Monroe revenge factor will play into the game, but it should be a great matchup.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
DeMarcus Cousins ($10,300) – Boogie is the man and he has a great matchup with the Hornets who are weak defending the PF/C spot. Cousins posted 60 FPs, during his last outing and has a great opportunity to put up more tonight.
Save Big Bucks By Drafting
Robert Covington ($4,400) – Bob Cov is back and trending in the right direction. He posted 33 fantasy points last game and had his minutes in the 30s. Covington is really the only scoring threat the 76ers have other than their big men. At $4,400 he has a great shot at hitting value.
Dud of the Night
LaMarcus Aldridge ($6,800) – LMA comes in as questionable tonight, but also gets a tough matchup. He hasn’t been the scorer he was in Portland, due to Pop’s desire to move the ball around. I think he is a great player, just see others in a better spot tonight.
