Game Flow Notes

Vegas Lines

HIGH O/U Thunder vs. Nuggets- The highest total of the night is 212. On a short slate it may benefit players that stack high scorers. In the case of this game that means all the Westy and Durant. Honestly the spread is close enough at -8.5 that I am not to worried about a blowout.

LOW O/UBucks vs. Heat- The Heat like to dominate the post and will try to do that tonight. The total in this game is 192.5. With Bosh and Wade carrying the scoring it will be interesting to see who responds from the Bucks. I love Monroe in this one, but I also feel like Giannis could make for a nice play.

Pace of Play

HIGH PACE Pacers vs. Suns – With Brandon Knight still at the helm for the Suns the pace will still move. With a 102.3 pace this game should be blazing. Look for Knight and Paul George to rival scoring and keep the game close.

LOW PACEBucks vs. Heat – Well they already won the award for the lowest total of the night, why not give them the award for the slowest game on the night. With a game pace of 92.9 this one will come down to rebounds. I love the post guys in this game.

Defense vs. Position

Point Guard Matchups

TARGET Russell Westbrook vs. Emmanuel Mudiay- Westy versus the 26th team against opposing PGs….sign me up!

AVOID Michael Carter-Williams vs. Tyler Johnson – Jerryd Bayless is back off of injury which means that MCW should see a small usage drop. The Heat are ranked 5th against opposing PGs and will look to shut MCW down tonight. With Dragic and Johnson both on the sidelines with injuries, Johnson will get all of the minutes he can handle. He is a good defender and should maintain the lockdown standard tonight.

Shooting Guard Matchups

TARGETDwyane Wade vs. Giannis Antetokounmpo- D Wade will be forced into the main scoring role tonight, with injuries hampering the Heat. Look for him to play on the ball some as Tyler Johnson should get the PG start. Wade is projected at 35+ DK points and should have the opportunity to exceed this tonight.

AVOIDDevin Booker vs. Monta Ellis Booker has seen a minutes increase and some nice usage due to Eric Bledsoe’s injury. He has struggled his last two outings with less than 15 DK points. Tonight the matchup isn’t extremely difficult, but he just hasn’t done enough to warrant making your lineup.

Small Forward Matchups

TARGET Paul George Vs. P.J. Tucker- Paul George will have to carry the load tonight against a downtrodden Suns team. The Suns are ranked 28th against opposing SFs and will have no answer for Paul tonight. I am expecting some nice fantasy output if the game stays close.

AVOID Danilo Gallinari vs. Kevin Durant- This one is tough, because KD has been playing great defense lately. The one time MVP is ranked 8th against opposing SFs. Danilo should be a decent cash play due to usage alone. However, I don’t think he exceeds his projected total tonight.

Power Forward Matchups

TARGET Anthony Davis vs. Kevin Garnett/Gorgui Deng – Alright Anthony Davis…you have one job. Please don’t get injured and put up value in a great matchup. I know we can’t control all of the outside variables, but Davis is projected as the highest scoring PF on the night.

AVOID Jabari Parker vs. Chris Bosh – Bosh is a great defender and he has come back strong after last years artery scare. Parker has been all over value late, but hasn’t had a monster game. I think that Bosh will manhandle the young guy and he will come in under value tonight.

Center Matchups

TARGETHassan Whiteside vs. Greg Monroe The great thing about DK is that you can play two Cs. I will have lineups with both of these guys tonight. Whiteside and Monroe are projected as the top 2 Cs and neither will be worried about stopping the other.

AVOID Nikola Jokic vs. Steven Adams- Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed playing Jokic as a value play. Tonight he gets a tough matchup against the Thunder. Adams and the Thunder are ranked 3rd against opposing Cs. I just think there are better plays on a short slate.

Lineup Quick Hits

Superstar Worth Paying For

Russell Westbrook ($10,700) – Westy put up 55 DK points during the last game. He should be able to ham out again tonight in a great matchup against the Nuggets. Hopefully this one stays remotely close, so that Westy can dominate all game.

Save Big Bucks by Drafting

Markieff Morris ($4,800) – Lucky for Kieff he seems to have found favor from his coach again. With three nice outings in a row he is projected at 25+ DK points tonight. The matchup isn’t bad and his usage should be up due to injuries. I think he has the potential to exceed value tonight.

Dud of the Night

Khris Middleton ($6,900) – Middleton has found his stroke in the new year. Tonight he gets a tough matchup against Luol Deng. I think that he will come it at slightly under value tonight.
