Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – Wizards vs. Bulls – Out of a 3 game slate the total for this game is the most enticing. With an o/u of 206.5 this one should have some fantasy goodness tonight. I am on a lot of players in this game and I am not opposed to stacking. For the Bulls I love Buckets and Pau. For the Wizards this is a Wall and Gortat game. If I can work more players into my line I will definitely be doing so tonight.
Editor’s Note – Marcin Gortat is questionable for tonight’s game. Be sure to check the injury news closer to tip-off.
LOW O/U – Spurs vs. Nets- The Spurs have rivaled the Jazz in becoming the slowest and the lowest scorers in the NBA. This all comes down to defense and the Spurs have become one of the best defensive teams in the league. With a total of 193, this is the lowest scoring tonight. I like Kawhi, but that is about it tonight.
Pace of Play
HIGH PACE – Heat vs. Warriors- This game is right in the middle of the 3 game slate when it comes to scoring. However, the projected game pace is higher than usual in a Heat game at 98. Obviously Steph is in play after his 65+ DK performance last game, but his matchup is tough. I also like where Draymond and Bosh come in at as both guys will be vying for boards and points.
LOW PACE – Spurs vs. Nets- Lowest scoring game and the lowest projected pace on the night. This game comes in at a projected game pace of 95.3. Not a lot of fantasy love here.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – John Wall vs. Derrick Rose- Wall gets one of the best matchups of the night against D Rose. Wall is the main point scorer for the Wiz. He broke out of his mini-slump last game against Orlando. I could easily see a 50 burger for Wall tonight.
AVOID – Shane Larkin vs. Tony Parker – Larkin has gotten the start for an injured Jarrett Jack and provides some decent GPP value. However, Parker is back and had a nice 33 point outing last game. The Spurs are top 5 against opposing PGs and should easily shut down Larkin tonight.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – Jimmy Butler vs. Garrett Temple- Buckets versus a Wizards team that has been ranked 25th-30th against opposing SGs all season…Yes, please! I love this matchup and I love Butler tonight.
AVOID – Markel Brown vs. Danny Green Brown got the start for Bogdanovich last game. He played 14 minutes and didn’t come close to value. Tonight he should start again and has the 1st ranked team against SGs. I am staying away from Nets players tonight.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Otto Porter Jr. vs. Nikola Mirotic (listed as PF on DK) – Both of these teams are terrible defending opposing SFs, which makes me put both guys in play tonight. I like where both of these guys come in at and will have exposure to both of them.
AVOID – Joe Johnson vs. Kawhi Leonard Old man Joe has nothing for the 1st ranked SF defender in the league. Play at your own risk and I suggest you don’t play him.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – Chris Bosh vs. Draymond Green – Draymond technically gets a wrap as one of the best defenders in the league. This year he has been scoring more and Bosh is ranked 2nd against opposing PFs. I like both of these guys to hit value, but I think Bosh may be the one to exceed.
AVOID – Thaddeus Young vs. LaMarcus Aldridge – Thad has been on an ice cold streak and gets a tough matchup versus LMA tonight. I would rather have Bosh or Draymond here.
TARGET – Marcin Gortat vs. Pau Gasol The Bulls should be ranked dead last against opposing Cs, but amazingly they aren’t. They are terrible against Cs and should provide easy domination for Pau tonight. I look for a 35+ DK game from the Polish Hammer.
AVOID – Andrew Bogut vs. Hassan Whiteside – Whiteside has upped his defensive game. Bogut is usually not known for his scoring. I think that both of these come in just short of value. Bogut does provide salary relief, but seems to have a 25 point ceiling, which won’t get it done in a GPP.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
Stephen Curry ($10,500) – Curry went off during his last game against the Kings and seems to have the injury woes behind him. I will have to have some exposure to him in GPPs, just in case he throws up a 70+ performance tonight. On 3 game slates a guy like Curry can make or break you, so it is important to have some exposure.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
Manu Ginobili ($4,200) – Manu is old, but Manu gets things done for the Spurs. In his role as a bench player Manu has amassed value in his last 4 and even posted 29 DK points last game. He has a great matchup tonight and when searching for value, Manu is my first stop.
Dud of the Night
Thaddeus Young ($7,000) – I usually love Thad Young, but unfortunately he has had a couple of rough outings and he has a tough matchup tonight. The Spurs have become the top defensive team in the league and LMA has figured out how to play defense. I think you look to other PFs tonight.
This is not a comprehensive list. Be sure to check for injury updates throughout the day
