Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – Warriors vs. Pacers – When the Warriors are playing you can about guarantee that they are one of the highest scoring games on the night. Tonight they have an o/u of 214. This game will be Curry versus George and should provide a lot of action on a short slate.
LOW O/U – Magic vs. Nuggets – The total for this game is 198. It surprises me that this one is that low. I like a lot of the value in this game and think that the $50,000 winner will have a lot of players from this game.
Pace of Play
HIGH PACE – Rockets vs. Nets – The Warriors have the highest pace on the night. The 2nd fastest game is this one. With a projected game pace of 100, James Harden and crew will look to push the pace. I like all the Harden and the birthday boy Dwight Howard tonight.
LOW PACE – Trailblazers vs. Cavaliers – LBJ had to sit out for “rest” on Saturday and he did not seem happy about the decision. Tonight Lebron and the Cavs will look to strong arm the Trailblazers at a “not so” blazing 94.9 projected game pace. I think Lebron comes out and shows people that he wasn’t tired on Saturday.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – Elfrid Payton vs. Emmanuel Mudiay – I could easily put Curry or Westbrook in this spot, but Elfrid has the easiest matchup. The Nuggets are 28th against the Point Guard position and Elfrid has been putting up numbers similar to last year. If you are looking for a low cost PG that can exceed value, Elfrid is your guy.
AVOID – Rajon Rondo vs. Raul Neto/Trey Burke – The Jazz can shut down every player except the absolute elite. Rondo has been great this year and has had back to back 30+ DK games, but he has one of the toughest matchups on the night.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – Victor Oladipo vs. Randy Foye – Oladipo has recently been a spark off of the bench, but that is Scott Skiles ball in Orlando. Garry Harris should sit tonight, which leaves the SG spot for Foye and Barton. These guys won’t be able to stop Oladipo.
AVOID – Monta Ellis vs. Klay Thompson – Is it still a revenge game three years later? Monta returns to Oakland, but has been unimpressive this year. Klay and the Warriors are 5th against opposing SGs. The Splash Brothers will look to put this one out of reach.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Trevor Ariza vs. Bojan Bogdanovic – The rookie RHJ is out with a foot injury. Bojan should get the start tonight and is ranked 26th against opposing SFs. Ariza has turned it on since a slow start and has a great chance at value tonight.
AVOID – Al Farouq-Aminu vs. Lebron James- The King wasn’t happy about having to sit out the other night. This doesn’t bid well for Aminu at all. Look for the feisty SF to have a rough night with LBJ.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – Thad Young vs. Clint Capela – In my cash games I always look to Thad Young for value. Young gets a great matchup tonight against the league’s worst team against PFs. Look for Thad to potentially exceed value tonight.
AVOID – All the Trailblazers vs. Kevin Love/Tristan Thompson – The Cavs are ranked 1st against opposing PFs. K Love and Tristan have been great in the low post and will look to keep up the dominance tonight. It doesn’t matter if it’s Meyers Leonard, Noah Vonleh, or Ed Davis; this is one of the toughest matchups on the night.
TARGET – Nikola Vucevic vs. Joffrey Lauvergne – Nikola versus King Joffrey, I am taking all the Vuc. Vuc gets the weak post of the Nuggets tonight and should have his way with them. Vuc has to produce in the first half so he is allowed to play in the second. He should potentially exceed value tonight.
AVOID – Steven Adams vs. Marc Gasol – Adams is a nice producer of rebounds and blocks, but isn’t called on to score a lot. With Westy and KD handling the heavy lifting, Adams will have a tough go against Marc Gasol.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
James Harden (10,600) – Matchup, total, and a Beard. Everything points to a strong outing for Harden tonight.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
Trey Burke (3,900) – What do 25 and 30 mean to us fantasy players? The last two outings for Trey Burke. Burke is in a great spot tonight and should easily hit value at 3,900.
Dud of the Night
Kevin Love (8,300) – K Love missed shootaround due to illness today. He has a great matchup, but unfortunately may be sick. Make sure you check lineup news to ensure the K Love is a go tonight.
