Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – Pelicans vs. Suns – The total for this game is 214 and is the highest scoring of the night. The Suns play at an extremely fast pace and will look to push the basketball tonight. I also like where Anthony Davis comes in at tonight and have him projected for 48+ DK points.
LOW O/U – Raptors vs. Heat – The Heat have been a low scoring team all season. The Raptors are coming off of an overtime game with the Hornets last night and should come in a little tired. With the o/u at 187.5 this should be a low scoring game, that I am staying away from.
Pace of Play
HIGH PACE – Kings vs. Timberwolves – The Kings have played at a blazing lately. This game is projected at a 102.2 game pace. I love Boogie in this one and I feel like Zach Lavine may provide sneaky value. With the Pelicans/Suns coming in at the fastest game, the Kings/Timberwolves may come in under the radar.
LOW PACE – Nuggets vs. Jazz – Enter the Jazz and find one of the slowest games of the night. The Nuggets usually play at a faster pace, but the Jazz always look to slow the ball down. With a projected game pace of 93.4 this one should be painfully slow. I do like where Derrick Favors is at against a weak Nuggets post.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – Brandon Knight vs. Jrue Holiday – The Pelicans are terrible against opposing PGs. Knight will look to have a field day tonight as he gets a high scoring game with a great matchup.
AVOID – Jeff Teague vs. Isaiah Thomas – Teague had a bounce back game against the 76ers during his last outing. Yes, you read that right….the 76ers. Tonight he gets the Celtics and they lockdown opposing PGs coming it at 1st in the league.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – Alec Burks vs. Will Barton – Burks got the start last game, but played very poor. If he gets the start tonight he will have a great chance to redeem himself. Burks will get a Nuggets team that can’t guard anybody.
AVOID – JJ Redick vs. Danny Green – The Spurs have eclipsed the Jazz as the top defenders in the league. The Spurs are ranked 1st against opposing SGs. Reddick has been putting up a lot of shots, but will have a tough matchup tonight.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Carmelo Anthony vs. Robert Covington – Melo has been playing lights out lately, even posting a 50 burger. He gets Bob Cov tonight and the 76ers. The 76ers are dead last in the league against SFs. Fire Melo in your line tonight.
AVOID – Bojan Bogdanovic vs. Paul George- Yes, I could easily say avoid the player who is playing against Kawhi tonight, but Bojan has been a great source of value. Tonight he has a terrible matchup against the Pacers and may not even hit value.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – Kristaps Porzingis vs. Nerlens Noel – Porzingis has had a rough patch over the last couple, but tonight he can redeem himself. Noel should play tonight, but hasn’t been very good. I love this matchup tonight.
AVOID – Blake Griffin vs. LaMarcus Aldridge – This matchup is tricky because I really want to roll out BG tonight. The Spurs are 1st against opposing PFs and will look to lock Blake down tonight. I think we will see a great defensive effort from the Spurs tonight.
TARGET – Nikola Vucevic vs. Mason Plumlee – Vuc went crazy against the Hornets during his last game. Tonight he gets the Trailblazers who are terrible against Cs. He is in a great spot to get a double double tonight.
AVOID – Zaza Pachulia vs. Marc Gasol – Zaza gets a little Marc tonight and probably won’t like it. The Griz are ranked 6th against opposing Cs. I like other options at C tonight.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
Steph Curry (10,700) – The Chef has a mediocre outing against the Suns last game. This was due to Draymond Green posting a double double and potential blowout numbers. He has a great matchup tonight against the Bucks and is projected well over 50+ fantasy points. I will have a lot of exposure to Steph tonight.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
Jrue Holiday (5,100) – Holiday no longer has a minutes restriction. He has been on fire the last two games with 30+ DK performances. He has a fast paced matchup with the Suns tonight and has a great shot at hitting value.
Dud of the Night
Dwayne Wade (6,900) – D Wade had a great outing his last game, but should come back down to earth tonight. He matches up against Demar Derozan and should have a tougher time tonight. I have him projected at only 30+ DK points tonight.
CJ Watson – Out, Josh McRoberts – Out, Tyler Johnson — Out, Devin Harris – Out, Jarrell Martin – Out, Emmanuel Mudiay – Out, Greg Monroe – Doubtful
