A week from now, the NBA will be playing the final games of the regular season, but there are still plenty of important games to keep track of on tonight’s eight-game slate. With MVP candidates Russell Westbrook, James Harden and LeBron James leading the way with hefty five-figure salaries, there are plenty of good options to sort through as you assemble your lineup for tonight. If you decide to load up on stars, you will find yourself in need of a few cheap options. To help you find the best targets under $4K, here are today’s options from the bargain bin:

Jonathon Simmons – SG/SF – SA vs. LAL – ($3,600) – Simmons stepped up in a spot start last night with Danny Green still dealing with a quad injury. After Kyle Anderson started Sunday, coach Gregg Popovich went to Simmons who stepped up with his second strong showing in a row. He ended up with 17 DKFP with eight points, four assists, two boards and a steal after producing 23.25 DKFP on Sunday in Utah on 17 points, two assists, a steal and a rebound.

Predicting Pop is always a risky gambit, but I doubt he’ll push his starters much since the Spurs play for the second night in a row against a soft opponent as the Lakers come to town. Simmons should benefit from garbage time and players resting, so he’s my top name to target under $4K especially if he’s in the starting lineup for the second night in a row.

Rodney McGruder – SG/SF – MIA @ CHA – ($3,400) – Another wing getting increased run down the stretch is Rodney McGruder who continues to help fill in for the injured Dion Waiters. McGruder has played at least 27 minutes in 3 of his last 4 games and scored double-digits in each of those three contests while finishing with at least 23 DKFP.

McGruder has averaged 7.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists over his last 10 games. He usually finds a variety of ways to get involved and brings plenty of energy for the Heat making him a valuable and relatively safe play against Charlotte tonight.

David West – PF – GS @ PHO – ($3,000) – After knocking off the Timberwolves last night, the Warriors head to Phoenix to take on the Suns on the second night of a back-to-back. While coach Steve Kerr is trying to keep everyone fresh and ready for the playoffs, he has been giving enough time to David West to make the veteran an interesting cheap flier at PF.

Even though he hardly ever plays more than 20 minutes, West has been able to post at least 19 DKFP in 6 of his last 9 games including 3 of his last 4. He had 22 DKFP last night against Minnesota on seven points and six assists in just 15 minutes. West doesn’t have an extremely high ceiling since his playing time is going to stay limited, but at the minimum salary, I think he can deliver value without much work especially in a matchup with the Suns who have allowed the third-most DKFP to PFs this season.

Troy Daniels – SG – MEM vs. OKC – ($3,900) – The Grizzlies host the Thunder tonight in a matchup of playoff teams although both seem pretty locked into their sixth and seventh spot in the Western Conference. Memphis has been shuffling different options in and out of their two-guard spot for most of the season, but lately, it has been journeyman sharpshooter Troy Daniels that has emerged as a viable option.

Daniels has played 30+ minutes in three straight games and had at least 20 DKFP in each of those contests. He had 21 points last Friday against Dallas on his way to 30.75 DKFP and followed that with 20 more points and 31.5 DKFP against the Lakers Sunday. Mike Conley is questionable for tonight with an eye injury, so the Grizz will need scoring from Daniels who should continue to get a high enough volume of shots to give him a high ceiling tonight.
