MLB Arcade Mode will bring us a short, three-game slate tonight. If you aren’t familiar with Arcade Mode, you can brush up on all the happenings by going here. Once you’re acclimated with the rules, we can dive into the information for tonight’s slate. As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.
Jeff Samardzija – SFG vs. MIL – $15,000 – On a night where the pitching is less than stellar to begin with, this three-game slate doesn’t make it much easier. Samardzija is my pick of the bunch here as he takes on the Brewers. This is not an easy matchup by any means, as the Brewers are sporting a .330 wOBA at home with a .325 OBP and a .447 SLG. The upside for Samardzija here is the strikeouts. It’s been well documented this season that the Brewers are no strangers to the K, owning a 27.2 K% at home, which is now the highest in the league. Samardzija has been racking them up this season, owning an overall 10.5 K/9 on the year and an 11.2 on the road. If he doesn’t run into trouble, he can easily be the highest scoring pitcher on this slate, but it won’t be easy.
Matt Kemp – ATL vs. PHI – $9,000 – Nick Pivetta has only started four games so far this season, but he’s already allowed five home runs to opposing right-handed batters. In addition to that, of the 18 hits he’s allowed to righties, 10 of them have gone for extra bases. This sounds like a great spot for someone like Matt Kemp, doesn’t it? Kemp has averaged 24.1 Arcade Mode points per game over his last 10 games with two home runs and three doubles.
Adam Duvall – CIN vs. STL – $8,500 – I’m not a big fan of Carlos Martinez on the road. Martinez currently sports a .347 wOBA away from Busch Stadium this season with a .462 SLG and five of his eight home runs allowed. Duvall has been crushing the ball lately, hitting five of his 14 home runs over his last 10 games en route an average of 36.1 Arcade Mode points per game in that span.
Tommy Joseph – PHI vs. ATL – $5,500 – I know, I write about Joseph all the time. Until his price goes up, he continues to be a great value in Arcade Mode. He takes on Bartolo Colon tonight, who’s allowing a .417 wOBA to righties with a .593 SLG with five of his 10 home runs allowed. Joseph has hit four of his nine home runs against righties with a .324 wOBA and a .423 SLG. You won’t need to save too much salary tonight, so consider him a possibly overlooked bat to mix up your roster.
Matt Adams – ATL vs. PHI – $6,500 – Adams is barely denting your salary for the night while he continues to swing a hot bat. Averaging 28.9 Arcade Mode points over his last 10 games, Adams has seven extra bases in that span including three home runs. In this game that has the highest projected run total of the night, Adams is another bat that could go overlooked.
