Last night we saw Andrew McCutchen launch 3 home runs, Tomas stayed hot going 2 for 4 with a homer and Ryan Braun went 1 for 1 with 2 RBI’s. We have a lot of hot hitters to look through tonight, so let’s analyze the 14-game slate to see who will remain hot.
Andrew McCutchen (RHB) (PIT vs. COL) – $5,000
McCutchen went wild last night and put up 3 homers. I don’t think we will see a repeat tonight, but I still think he will remain hot. He faces a Jon Gray, who has been less than stellar on the season. McCutchen has a .500 BA against Gray lifetime, and he also has a .379 handedness wOBA. I will have McCutchen and a Pirates stack tonight.
Ian Desmond (RHB) (TEX vs. NYY) – $4,100
Desmond is coming off of a nice 25 DKFP game. He had a dud a couple of games ago, but was very hot in the two before that. Sabathia has had a rough season so far posting a 5.28 ERA. Desmond has a .350 handedness wOBA and a .210 ISO. I like Desmond’s .381 BA over the last week and think that we could even see the potential for another homer this evening.
Bryce Harper (LHB) (WAS vs. PHI) – $5,500
My only problem with Harper right now is that he may be getting too expensive. Harper is extremely consistent and has the ability to hit every game. He is hitting .308 on the season with 9 homers. He has also hit double digit DKFPs in 4 out of his last 6 games. Harper has a .667 career average against Hellickson, who looked bad in his first start against Washington giving up 5 runs. I think history will repeat itself and Harper will put up a couple of hits tonight.
Yoenis Cespedes (RHB) (NYM vs. CIN) – $4,700
Cespedes has been plagued by an injury, but that didn’t seem to affect him last night where he had 1 at bat and produced a homer. The Reds have been awful as of late, and Moscot is a part of one of the worst bullpens in baseball. Moscot has an ERA of 5.06 in 10 innings and recently participated in a slaughter at the hands of the Cubs. I love Cespedes .391 handedness wOBA and the fact that he is hitting .320 over the last week. I will have plenty of Cespedes on the evening.
Yasmany Tomas (RHB) (ARI vs. STL) – $3,400
I promised Tomas I would leave him on this list until he cools down. He has now had 12 straight games with a hit and 3 homers in the last 6. He faces Adam Wainwright tonight, who just isn’t that good. Wainwright has a 1.833 OPS against RHBs on the season. Yasmany has a handedness wOBA of .299, but I am just going to keep riding the hot streak until he falters. Even with a rise in price I like Tomas a lot tonight.
