Even more mind-boggling stats on Kyle Schwarber’s home run last night, from @ChiTribGraphics. pic.twitter.com/mziWWKUmXh — Chicago Tribune (@chicagotribune) October 14, 2015
If you missed the magic at Wrigley Field last night I truly pity your soul. You don’t have to be a fan of baseball to appreciate the energy and wonder of the moment all of Chicago felt after watching the Cubs clinch their first playoff series at home EVER. There have been seemingly endless heroes for the Cubs this postseason but Kyle Schwarber is quickly becoming the mightiest of them all…
It would take a Herculean effort to overshadow guys like Jake Arrieta, Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro and Kris Bryant… and that’s exactly what Schwarber did. The homerun was great for an extra insurance run sure, but it was the pure mind-blowingness that made it SO awesome and inspiring. Seeing that baby get jettisoned into space was the exact moment Cubs fans knew it was gonna be alright.
Totally worth it too even though NASA now has one less astronaut to explore space with…
Subway now has another controversy on their hands…
And the Oakland A’s can now chalk this up as a successful postseason…
Congrats to the Cubs for advancing on to the NLCS and let’s hope this gravy train keeps on rolling. Seeing the emotions from players and fans alike last night is truly why we play the game.
Well that and super long homeruns. And free champagne!
