DraftKings has over $10K in MLS prizes to award this weekend, so let’s get right to my top targets on the day. Look out for starting lineups as they are released — I will be posting them on Twitter (@DraftKicks) as they become available — usually an hour before kickoff.
Evan Bush – $4,300 – Montreal Impact – The Montreal Impact are unbeaten in three straight at home on the strength of two clean sheets from Evan Bush. He’s averaged double-digit DraftKings points across those three games, and will be called upon once again to keep the retooled D.C. United attack at bay tonight.
Tyler Deric – $4,500 – Houston Dynamo – The last time the Houston Dynamo played in their home confines, Tyler Deric had an impressive 16-point outing in a 3-0 win over the LA Galaxy. I’m pegging Deric to lead Houston to another strong performance at home against a visiting San Jose Earthquakes team that has lost seven-straight games across all competitions.
Others to Consider – David Ousted (Vancouver Whitecaps; $5,100), Tally Hall (Orlando City SC; $3,800)
Ambroise Oyongo – $4,200 – Montreal Impact – Oyongo continues to produce fantasy points through crosses and fouls drawn. He’s got good attacking potential and can rack up points regardless of if the Impact pitch a clean sheet or not.
Luke Boden – $4,500 – Orlando City SC – Luke Boden has been a surprise in the attack since being shifted up the left-wing in Orlando City SC’s 4-3-3. He opened his MLS goal-scoring account against Toronto FC midweek with a fine goal and will continue to play a part in the Orlando attack. Considering Boden is eligible for both defending and attacking points, I like his upside playing at home against the Philadelphia Union.
Others to Consider – Corey Ashe (Orlando City SC; $4,100), DaMarcus Beasley (Houston Dynamo; $5,000), Sheanon Williams (Houston Dynamo; $4,000)
Ignacio Piatti – $9,200 – Montreal Impact – Piatti was quiet in midweek action but will be back at it again tonight at home against D.C. United. Prior to the midweek contest, Piatti had three goals in three games amongst points for numerous shots and fouls drawn.
Kaka – $11,000 – Orlando City SC – Though he was rested midweek, Kaka should return to action tonight and is my top target at the midfielder position. The Brazilian legend has double-digit DraftKings points in three of his last four games and has an enticing matchup against the Philadelphia Union.
Cristian Maidana – $8,200 – Philadelphia Union – Cristian Maidana ($7,900) has an assist in two straight games, making it six assists in his last five games. The DraftKings scoring system favors Maidana’s cross-heavy game, awarding one point for each cross into the box.
Others to Consider – Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake; $9,200), Graham Zusi (Sporting KC; $6,200), Federico Higuain (Columbus Crew; $9,200)
Sebastian Giovinco – $12,200 – Toronto FC – Sebastian Giovinco was at again with a midweek hat-trick in Toronto FC’s 4-1 win over Orlando City. The MVP frontrunner overtook Kei Kamara ($10,900) in the MLS Golden Boot race, and is worth finding room for anytime he’s in action. A matchup on the road at Sporting Kansas City isn’t ideal, but Giovinco is as close to matchup-proof as they come.
Fabian Espindola – $9,500 – D.C. United – Espindola has a goal in consecutive games, but the most impressive part about his game log is nine crosses in back-to-back games as well. The acquisition of target forward Alvaro Saborio two games ago has given Espindola the freedom to roam the field – making him a threat anytime he’s on the field.
Cyle Larin – $8,800 – Orlando City SC – Larin had a pair of goals in his last home game and now has five goals in his last three outings. The rookie sensation has a chance to break the MLS record for goals scored by a rookie tonight and I expect Kaka and company to look for him early and often.
Others to Consider – Giles Barnes (Houston Dynamo; $8,000), Octavio Rivero (Vancouver Whitecaps; $9,000), Kei Kamara (Columbus Crew; $10,900)
Erick Torres – $5,000 – Houston Dynamo – I’ll be looking for Erick “Cubo” Torres in the Houston Dynamo starting lineup tonight. The Mexican international came off the bench in his Dynamo debut, and it’s only a matter of time before the goals start pouring in. At just $5,000, i’m hoping to see Torres get the start so that I can pair him with some of the higher-priced stars.
