Houston Dynamo @ DC United

Game Analysis

After putting up three goals against the Montreal Impact last week, Houston will have a difficult matchup against the Eastern Conference leading DC United. Brad Davis and company won’t have the same success this week with arguably the top GK in the MLS in goal. Bill Hamid (3 W, 4 GA, 22 Saves) will have to continue to lead DC United while designated player, Fabian Espindola, serves the last game of his six game suspension. This will yet again open up an opportunity for Chris Pontius and Jairo Arrieta to prove they can be goal scorers in this league. With the high profile attackers missing and the success of Bill Hamid and the DC United defense so far this season, I would expect this to be a low scoring affair.

Line: DC United (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2

Players to Watch

  • Bill Hamid, DC United ($5,300)
  • Perry Kitchen, DC United ($3,900)
  • Tyler Deric , Houston Dynamo ($3,900)
  • Kofi Sarkodie, Houston Dynamo ($4,100)

Orlando City @ Columbus Crew

Game Analysis

The Columbus Crew led by MLS returnee, Kei Kamara, look to catch Orlando City in this tough Eastern Conference matchup. With Will Trapp’s minor concussion the only injury to note, this should be a fast pace and very entertaining match. Luckily for Orlando City, Brek Shea will be available after returning from his substitute appearance with the US National Team. He will join the never disappointing Kaka in an attempt to lead Orlando City to their second win in a row. The stars will look to dominate in this game, but watch for role players like Ethan Finley and Kevin Molino to get plenty of chances against two average defenses.

Line: Columbus Crew (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2

Players to Watch

  • Kei Kamara, Columbus Crew ($8,400)
  • Ethan Finlay, Columbus Crew ($5,700)
  • Cyle Larin, Orlando City ($5,900)
  • Kevin Molino, Orlando City ($5,600)

Toronto FC @ FC Dallas

Game Analysis

With all the big names on the Toronto FC roster, the one thing still missing is team chemistry. Unlike Toronto, FC Dallas has stormed out of the gates due to contributions from the reliable veteran Blas Perez and the youngster, Tesho Akindele. Both teams have given up 8 goals so far this season, which is tied for 2nd worse in the MLS. I expect multiple goals in this game, and watch for Jozy Altidore to break out of his two game slump.

Line: FC Dallas (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2

Players to Watch

  • Michel, FC Dallas ($4,600)
  • Tesho Akindele, FC Dallas ($6,900)
  • Jozy Altidore, Toronto FC ($7,300)
  • Stebastian Giovinco, Toronto FC ($7,800)

Seattle Sounders @ Colorado Rapids

Game Analysis

After finally ending their 18 game winless streak, the Colorado Rapids will look to win their second in a row against the Seattle Sounders. Both teams boast very strong defenses, but if the Rapids want to win they will need to stop the potent attack of Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins. Look for a very open game, with both teams desperate for another win to get out of the bottom half of the Western Conference. I expect the strong defenses to hold their own, but goals will be scored in this game.

Line: Pick O/U: 2 1/2

Players to Watch

  • Clint Dempsey, Seattle Sounders ($9,900)
  • Lamar Neagle, Seattle Sounders ($4,900)
  • Gabriel Torres, Colorado Rapids ($5,100)
  • Dominique Badji, Colorado Rapids ($4,400)

Vancouver Whitecaps @ Real Salt Lake

Game Analysis

Vancouver is off to a red-hot start this season, but with captain, Pedro Morales, suspended they will have their hands full against RSL. Octavio Rivero has been outstanding, but without the passing ability of Morales (3 assists), his opportunities may be limited this week. RSL will have to stop the Whitecaps high-powered offense if they want a chance to get a point this week, and with Beckerman’s status in doubt, Jamison Olave will have to step up his game in a big way. I expect both teams to play very conservative, especially if both are missing key players in their lineup.

Line: Real Salt Lake (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2

Players to Watch

  • Jamison Olave, Real Salt Lake ($4,900)
  • Luke Mulholland, Real Salt Lake ($4,600)
  • Darren Mattocks, Vancouver Whitecaps ($4,900)
  • David Ousted, Vancouver Whitecaps ($4,000)

Sporting KC @ LA Galaxy

Game Analysis

Given all the notable names on both of these rosters, neither team is off to a great start in their 2015 campaign. On paper these teams are basically even, but look for the recent injury of Ike Opara (ruptured Achilles tendon last week) to play a huge role in the outcome of this match. With either Erik Palmer-Brown or Kevin Ellis taking over as Matt Besler’s defensive partner, the chemistry at the back may be suspect at first. Look for the LA Galaxy to expose the replacement center back and I wouldn’t be surprised if Jalil Anibaba is forced to play more defensively to cover for any potential mistakes in the makeshift back line.

Line: LA Galaxy (-1) O/U: 2 1/2

Players to Watch

  • Jalil Anibaba, Sporting KC ($3,700)
  • Krisztian Nemeth, Sporting KC ($4,900)
  • Gyasi Zardes, LA Galaxy ($7,500)
  • Stefan Ishizaki, LA Galaxy ($6,900)
