Here is a look back at this week’s Fantasy Top Performers. Points are based on DraftKings scoring system, a format in which you select 9 NFL players while staying under the $50,000 salary cap.
Top 3 Quarterbacks
Matt Ryan (35.3 points) Despite going down early on Monday Night, the Falcons ended up scoring 37 points. Ryan threw for 375 yards and 4 touchdowns in the loss to Green Bay. Somehow, the 5-8 Falcons remain in good position to play a home playoff game this year.
Ben Roethlesberger (30.9 points). The Steelers earned a key divisional win over the Bengals this week while Big Ben threw for 350 yards and 3 TDs.
Kyle Orton (25.3 points) A few other QBs had higher total fantasy points than Orton, but at only $5,600, he was a huge bargain and helped a few teams to top finishes this week. He threw a total of 57 passes this week in Denver for 355 yards and a touchdown.
Top 3 Running Backs
Le’Veon Bell (50.5 points) For the second week in a row, Bell was the top fantasy performer. Another 3 touchdown performance has him as a top pick for this week’s Millionaire Maker Championship.
Andre Williams (26.7 points) A 50 yard touchdown run capped a great performance by the rookie. While news that Rashad Jennings was active may have scared away some owners, Williams still received the majority of carries and had his best professional performance this week.
Jonathan Stewart (24.5 points) The Panthers dominant win over the Saints featured 155 yards and a touchdown for Stewart. He received a majority of carries with DeAngelo Williams out.
Top 3 Wide Receivers
Julio Jones (45.9 points). Jones followed up a great performance against the Cardinals with 11 catches, 259 yards, and a touchdown. He sustained an injury in the 4th quarter on Monday night, so be careful before rostering him again this week.
AJ Green (42.4 points) Even though the Bengals lost, Green was a standout performer with 11 catches, 224 yards, and one TD. He hauled in an 81 yard score early on to get off to a hot start.
TY Hilton (39 points). Andrew Luck’s favorite target brought in two touchdowns to help the Colts narrowly defeat the Browns on Sunday. Hilton grabbed 10 catches for 150 yards as well.
Last week, Eytan Jankowitz (username Kobe4MVP) won $1,000,000 on DraftKings while playing in the King of the Beach championship. His team scored 193.92 points and of course, top scorer Le’Veon bell was the heart of his team. Interestingly, he did not catch fire with any of the top receivers, but instead had the combination of Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin give him the victory. This week, fantasy players will be entering the DraftKings Millionaire Maker Championship event. There are $3 million in total guaranteed prizes, with another $1 million first place prize.
Top 3 Tight Ends
Mychal Rivera (26.9 points) – Rivera has been one of the Raiders few bright spots on offense and while he has been inconsistent, he has sprinkled in a few outstanding performances like his week 14 one.
Jared Cook (22.1 points) – Cook led all tight ends with 2 touchdowns on Sunday during the Rams embarrassment of the Redskins. Cook has shown that he is a talented tight end, but his upside is limited given the Rams quarterback situation.
Rob Gronkowski (22.7 points) – The Gronk continued his outstanding season with another 8 catch, 87 yard and 1 touchdown performance as New England continues to win. Tom Brady’s favorite target needs to be on your short-list for tight ends every single week at this point.
