It’s near impossible to put Abby Wambach’s illustrious career into words, but, the first three that come to mind: Legend, Hero, Patriot.

Wambach’s final game with the US Women’s National Team took place Wednesday night vs. China, and no-one really cared that the US lost the friendly (0-1) — the team’s first loss on home soil since 2004 (104 game unbeaten streak) — because the night was all about celebrating Abby’s accomplishments as the face of women’s soccer in this country.

184 goals in 255 games all came to an end when she was subbed out of the match in the 71st minute:
