There are six games on the NHL schedule Wednesday with lots of high-impact players on the ice. The League-best Washington Capitals visit the Los Angeles Kings as Caps captain Alex Ovechkin ($9,000) seeks to add to his NHL-leading 41 goals while the Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane ($8,600), the runaway League leader in points, has a rivalry game at the St. Louis Blues. The New York Islanders will play a second game in as many nights as they try to extend their winning streak to five games with a visit to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here are some players who can help you get money in your contest(s) tonight.
Tomas Greiss – NYI vs. TOR – $8,000 – It would be obvious to go with the red-hot Jaroslav Halak ($7,700) in this spot but the Islanders goaltender sustained what appeared to be a lower-body injury in a 2-1 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday. Halak is 5-1-0 with a 1.66 goals-against average in his past six starts.
But there is little warning regarding choosing Greiss on Wednesday as he would face rookie Garret Sparks and a Maple Leafs team that is averaging just two goals over a current six-game losing streak. Owners should have confidence in whoever is in the crease for the Islanders as the team is averaging 4.33 goals for over three straight road wins.
Pekka Rinne – NSH vs. CGY – $8,100 – The Preds starting goalie hasn’t been as consistent this season as he has for most of his career but he should be a safe play against the inexperienced Joni Ortio in a road game against the Calgary Flames. Rinne has hardly been unbelievable with a 5-6-4 record and 2.80 GAA in 18 career games against Calgary and an 11-9-5 record in 25 road games this season but the reason to go with the veteran tonight is more about the goalie at the opposite end of the ice. Ortio is 1-6-3 with a 3.04 GAA this season and has only played Nashville once in his career; a 6-5 loss back in the 2013-14 season.
Others to Consider: Corey Crawford ($8,200), John Gibson ($7,700), Louis Domingue ($6,500)
Brent Seabrook – CHI vs. STL – $6,000 – The sky’s the limit with either Seabrook or teammate Duncan Keith ($6,200) since both provide a great bang for your buck with an average of 3.4 fantasy points per game. Seabrook has four points (one goal, three assists), six blocked shots and eight shots on goal in the past three games while Keith has chipped in with three points (one goal, two assists), 10 blocked shots and eight SOG in that same span. Owners will want to select a cheaper, lesser-owned player as their second defender but they can’t go wrong with either Seabrook or Keith as a mid-priced top option when the Blackhawks visit the Blues.
“Leddy has five assists over a current three-game point streak and leads all Islanders defensemen with 30 assists and 34 points in 64 games this season”
Nick Leddy – NYI vs. TOR – $4,600 – The Islanders top defenseman at regular strength and the power play has been one of Brooklyn’s finest players recently and is still available at a great price. Leddy has five assists over a current three-game point streak and leads all Islanders defensemen with 30 assists and 34 points in 64 games this season. While Maple Leafs goalie Garet Sparks has been good with a 2.33 GAA in three straight starts, Leddy has eight points (one goal, seven assists) and 12 SOG in nine career games against Toronto.
Others to Consider: Roman Josi ($7,000), Sami Vatanen ($5,200), Travis Hamonic ($4,600), Dmitry Orlov ($3,800)
Evgeny Kuznetsov – WAS vs. LA – $6,700 – The young Russian has become notorious as a dependable play in daily fantasy this season. Kuznetsov has been absolutely amazing with 20 goals, 67 points and 149 SOG through 66 games but can usually be selected as a money-saving sure shot on any given night. All analytics suggest that the up-and-coming center will be a good choice at Los Angeles; Kuznetsov has five points (two goals, three assists) and seven SOG in five career games against the Kings and has 31 point (10 goals, 21 assists) in 32 road games this season.

Filip Forsberg – NSH vs. CGY – $6,600 – If owners go with Rinne as their goaltender, then they might as well take his teammate Forsberg when the Predators visit Calgary. The young left wing has been heating up recently with six points (two goals, four assists) over a current three-game point streak and 13 points (eight goals, five assists) in the past eight games, including scoring two hat tricks over that span. While other forwards in DraftKings tonight might demand more loot, owners are encouraged to save more money and go with the Swedish forward.
Others to Consider: Ryan Getzlaf ($6,200), Jonathan Toews ($6,000), Jaden Schwartz ($5,600), Jarome Iginla ($4,700), Antoine Vermette ($3,900)
