This article will identify the best line-stacking combos to use for fantasy hockey purposes every night. Considering that at least one player on a forward line will often get an assist on a goal when his line mate scores, stacking players from the same line can prove very fruitful for fantasy purposes. Use these targets to help identify some of your best options ever night.
High Priced First lines
Alex Ovechkin ($8800) – Nicklas Backstrom ($6200) – TJ Oshie ($5800)
This line isn’t going to surprise anyone if you use it in fantasy tonight but that doesn’t make them a bad play. The Capitals first line and first PP unit get a dream matchup tonight versus the Columbus Blue Jackets who are still without their star goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. The Caps star Alex Ovechkin has been heating up a lot recently with 4 goals in his last three games and it’s possible were about to see another God-like goal scoring run that we saw from him at the end of last season. Regardless, Ovechkin’s improved play and this matchup mean that this entire line is in a good spot to produce points for fantasy tonight and if you’re paying up for a big line this one is probably one of, it not the best, to target for that purpose. I’d consider getting at least some exposure to these three tonight.

Mike Ribeiro ($3600) – Filip Forsberg ($5800) – Craig Smith ($4500)
This line has been great recently, as the trio have 7 goals in their last 6 games and been clicking well as a unit at even strength. Filip Forsberg has come on recently after a slow start and is becoming that same offensive force that was so effective for fantasy purposes last year. He’s got 3 or more SOG in 4 of his last 6 games and seeing nearly 20 mins of ice a night. Mike Ribeiro and Craig Smith have benefitted from playing with Forsberg and will also see time on the second power play unit together making them a good correlation pairing. The savings you get are great when you use all three tonight and against a weaker Carolina Hurricanes team who is 8th worst at killing penalties the opportunity for a big night scoring exists for all three. They’re a top value trio on this slate for me.
Sean Monahan ($5600) – Johnny Gaudreau ($6800) – Joe Colborne ($3500)
This line has been cold lately but they’ve also had to face two very tough California, with two very hot goalies, back to back. The Flames top trio has been a little hit or miss all season but in a game versus the Avalanche there’s reason to believe they’ll get back on track tonight. The Avalanche rank in the bottom half of the league in penalty killing and have given up the 5th most shots against in the entire league as well. This line is sporadic but the duo of Monahan and Gaudreau play together in almost every situation and will be with the very cheap Joe Colborne at even strength tonight. All three will see PP time and should be in a good spot here to put some points up against a pretty good fantasy target in Colorado. Roll these three out in tournaments if you’re looking for a way to differentiate tonight.
