This article will identify the best line-stacking combos to use for fantasy hockey purposes every night. Considering that at least one player on a forward line will often get an assist on a goal when his line mate scores, stacking players from the same line can prove very fruitful for fantasy purposes. Use these targets to help identify some of your best options every night.
High Priced First lines
Bryan Little ($5400) – Blake Wheeler ($7000) – Andrew Ladd ($5200)
There’s some big lines in good spots tonight but I think this Jets line might really go overlooked. The Oilers have been shaky defensively of late, especially in net, and have now given up 4 or more goals in three straight games. The Jets first line plays a ton and almost always sees first unit power play time together as a trio as well making them a great bet many nights for some real correlation scoring (the point of line stacking!). The Jets power play has admittedly not been good this season but against the Oilers they might not have to be as the Jets have been very effective at scoring at even strength (5th best in the league) and also go up against a team who have struggled defending at even strength as well. I really like this stack tonight and think a big game is possible for all three.
Also check out: The Wild’s top line of Parise/Granlund/Pominville and the Capitals top line of Backstrom/Ovechkin/Oshie (as mentioned in the NHL Cheat Sheet)
Mikko Koivu ($4800) –Thomas Vanek ($5100) – Jason Zucker ($4800)
This line has been absolute smoldering hot of late with 14 points between them in their last 3 games. While this trio plays together a ton at even strength the duo of Vanek and Koivu have also been doing a ton of damage lately for the Wild on the Power Play. The Stars are a tough opponent but also prone to giving up some big games to opposition players and rank only 20th in penalty killing in the league this year. With this line getting some exposure on the power play and playing so well as a unit I really like targeting them in this showdown of Western conference powerhouses. You can play Koivu and Vanek as a pair or roster all three and use the savings you get to combine them with another top line for tournaments.
Leon Draisaitl ($4800) – Taylor Hall ($7300) – Teddy Purcell ($3800)
While I already mentioned the Jets as a good target tonight I also think the Oilers top line is in a good spot for a rebound as well. The Jets have been lousy defensively in many areas this season and rank in the bottom five of the league in penalty killing and goals against as a team. The Oilers top unit has been relatively quiet recently but are still seeing a ton of ice time and played over 33% of the time at even strength last game for the Oilers. The combo of Hall and Draisaitl have been deadly this season for the Oilers and in a good matchup they make for a great tournament target as some people might be down on the Oilers for fantasy at the moment. While the two only have one goal between them in their last 4 games they did record 11 SOG in their last outing out so the chances are still there. Take advantage of this possibly low owned, affordable trio in tournaments on DraftKings tonight.
