This article will identify the best line-stacking combos to use for fantasy hockey purposes every night. Considering that at least one player on a forward line will often get an assist on a goal when his line mate scores, stacking players from the same line can prove very fruitful for fantasy purposes. Use these targets to help identify some of your best options ever night.

High Priced First lines

Nathan MacKinnon ($6700) – Gabriel Landeskog ($6800) – Matt Duchene ($6100)

There’s no doubt that the Colorado Avalanche have one of the most talented first lines in hockey. While the line has been very hot and cold for fantasy all season the fact they play together in almost all situations (including the power play) make them a great target for stacking and correlation scoring purposes. Tonight against the Edmonton Oilers, who’ve let in 4 or more goals in their last two games, this is a great spot for a potential explosion form these three. Edmonton is still in the bottom third of league in terms of Goals Against as a team and middle of the road in killing penalties. Colorado has played well recently and I like this spot for this line to get on track offensively tonight. Consider paying up for all three in some lineups, especially if you’re going for that high upside stack play.

Value Trios

Sean Couturier ($3400) – Jakub Voracek ($5700) – Wayne Simmonds ($5200)

The Flyers have been playing much better hockey of late and are now rolling a pretty balanced lineup in terms of forward lines. This newly created second line played 25% of even strength time the last time out and clearly has the trust of the Flyers coaching staff. Former 80 point forward Jakub Voracek was awful to start the season but has really come on strong lately with 5 points and 12 SOG in his last 3 games. All three of these men will see time on the power play at some point as well with Voracek and Simmonds being mainstays on the first unit. I love targeting the Flyers tonight versus the Blue Jackets and think this trio gives you a cheap way to get a high upside line stack in your lineup.

Contrarian Pick

John Tavares ($7800) – Anders Lee ($4400) – Josh Baily ($3800)

The Islanders John Tavares has been in a major slump offensively of late (1 point in his last seven games) and will be without the services of his top winger Kyle Okposo tonight as well. Still, the Isles play the Coyotes tonight who are starting a third string netminder and been terrible all around as a team recently. Neither Anders Lee nor Josh Baily has been scoring much lately either but both men have some offensive talent, especially Lee who put up 25 goals last year in his first full year playing with the Isles. It’s likely all three men will play together at some point on the power play too making them a great bet for some correlation scoring in fantasy. Make Tavares and his new linemates a definite tournament consideration tonight, this stack should be low owned.
