Kings @ Jets
This is a game where you must be careful. Though the Kings are favored here, it is a very tenuous position. Jonathan Quick has been on fire of late with a .936 save percentage and 8-2 record in his last ten decisions. Not surprisingly, Los Angeles has climbed back into the playoff race that they were thought to be dismissed from. Then there are the Jets who are also battling for their playoff lives. The problem for the Jets is they do not exactly have a two time Stanley Cup champion in net, do they? This is where the platoon will hurt Paul Maurice. They need a number one now and really they do not have one. Now Michael Hutchinson has tailed off and Ondrej Pavelec has not been good either because of it. Players need to know their roles and not feel pressure on top of pressure. That is why Los Angeles is ready to pounce. They played a really good 40 minutes before cracking in the final 20 against Anaheim. The Gaborik-Kopitar duo is the one to play and you may want to use Tyler Toffoli as a sort of stray. As for Winnipeg, Dustin Byfuglien is in must start territory while Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd are just about in that realm as well. This could be good and it could crash badly.
Money Line: LA -130, O/U 5
Players to Watch
- Tyler Toffoli, RW, Kings ($4800)
- Jonathan Quick, G, Kings ($9200)
- Michael Hutchinson?, G, Jets ($7400)
- Bryan Little, C, Jets ($6600)
Blue Jackets @ Penguins
These teams can butcher each other to death but Columbus is on the back end of a back to back. The first installment saw them go down to New Jersey of all teams, 2-0. Pittsburgh has to get it going soon, otherwise they are going to fall further and further back. Eventually their values on daily sites will start to tumble again. Typically, it will be one fast drop if the algorithm is true. Marc-Andre Fleury should start against Sergei Bobrovsky but check with Columbus beat writers first before plugging him in your lineups. Columbus allowed less than 20 shots on Saturday and fired 32 on Cory Schneider but Schneider was a ginger wall. Maybe they will have better luck against Fleury because the Blue Jackets did move the puck well enough and dominated long stretches of the game yet it was not enough. No one really knows what to expect from both teams tomorrow. It is clear Malkin and Crosby get irritated playing rough and tumble opposition and I wonder if that is why David Clarkson was brought in. This game will be physical but if Pittsburgh gets it going early, it will be ugly and fast. Besides Columbus has a top draft pick it could get if they play their cards right, it could be top three or four.

Lightning @ Panthers
The game has it all and at least Ben Bishop is confirmed to start but after that all bets are off. The triplets are playing pretty well for the Bolts but are not setting the world on fire. Let’s put it this way. They are providing solid value for DK owners but just not that wow factor. Steven Stamkos is the one Tampa player that is. He is up to 34 goals on the year and if he keeps up the hot streak, 45 goals is not out of the question. Yes it is a far cry from 55 but hey these things happen. Also, Victor Hedman has really fallen off along with the rest of the defense for Tampa. Did anyone notice that Ben Bishop basically has a save percentage that is below the league average? If Al Montoya starts, this changes things and that is when I consider stacking the second line in some way maybe with Stamkos. Also, maybe playing Bjugstad because let’s face it, he causes Tampa trouble. Other than that, this is a 5 pm game where we have to sit and wait yet again for more information. We will keep you informed via Twitter on any late breaking news.
Line: NL . O/U 5.5

Maple Leafs @ Capitals
Hey the Maple Leafs are rolling over and surrendering to Montreal like the South did to the North after Sherman’s rush through Atlanta and the deep South. What will they even have left for a rested Capitals team is anyone’s guess? The Capitals do have problems of their own however as they have struggled a bit of late. They have not played particularly bad but have lost three straight and suddenly look a bit vulnerable offensively and defensively. Hey, even Braden Holtby has felt the pinch a little too. He has been .500 in his last ten decisions with a still pretty solid .920 save percentage. However, a few shots he has wished back. That is not how it works. As for Toronto, it seems everyone is on the trade block and there may be some sit-outs on Sunday so watch the lineups closely toward the 7 pm ET start. Washington’s power play and Toronto’s capitulation to Montreal spell what should be an easy Capitals win. At least Toronto will fire some shots on net though. Anyway, expect Backstrom and Ovechkin to get their mojo back a little.
Line: Capitals -235, O/U 5.5

- Nazem Kadri, C, Leafs ($4800)
- Dion Phaneuf, D, Leafs ($4300)
- Alex Ovechkin, LW, Caps ($9200)

Ducks @ Stars
I was looking at this and this becomes start your goal scoring! Dallas has given up 5.2 goals per game in their last five games and have seen their team defense diced to shreds. There really is not enough time to pick up the pieces at this point because Anaheim is going to come in almost as angry. Yes they are 4-1 in their last five but their power play has virtually disappeared and that does not sit well with them. It appears John Gibson will start against Kari Lehtonen and you can almost hear the horn already. Dallas’s opposition ranks are all in the bottom third of the league for nearly every position. That is a bad sign and those trending numbers are not bouncing back anytime soon. This would be a perfect game to play Getzlaf and Perry against whatever defense Dallas can muster. Even Anaheim’s depth can do significant damage then just have Francois Beauchemin and Hampus Lindholm just fire away. The only way Dallas can fight this is for the team to just get mad. They need to get irate and just do everything they can to at least go down fighting. The over still likely hits though. Stack some Ducks and play Benn in GPP’s along with maybe Cole and/or Eakin if you cannot afford Benn.
Line: Ducks -130, O/U 5.5
Players to Watch
- Ryan Getzlaf, C, Ducks ($8000)
- Ryan Kesler, C, Ducks ($5300)
- Jamie Benn, LW, Stars ($8200)
- Erik Cole, RW, Stars ($4400)
Blues @ Canucks
This is the late game with tons of uncertainty. Will Jake Allen start? Who will be on the hot seat after this one? Can the Sedin Twins stand up for themselves? Vancouver has been up and down and so has St. Louis. It is why it was so tough to really recommend other than the usual suspects for this and maybe Zack Kassian. Eddie Lack is the expected against Jake Allen, who is the starter at this moment basically. St. Louis will assess this during the day on Sunday to see where Elliott is mentally and physically and then go from there. St. Louis has the depth to run Vancouver out of their own building but there is just a lack of confidence lately that has impacted almost every line. This game very well could be a surprise over as one or two lines are going to get some points. So many players on these top sixes are 25% or more off their season averages. That being said, the Blues power play is still around 23% and that is enough for a small stack. Look at the St. Louis PP unit combos in morning skate for more. Good luck!
