Sabres @ Maple Leafs
This is a game where you can just let it ride if you want because it is a short slate and honestly most players are going to be reasonably priced here. Let’s be honest! It is hard with a clear conscience to pick a goaltender here. This is likely one of the toughest nights of the season as far as picking a goalie. Toronto is heavily favored for the sake of it being Buffalo I suppose. Do the Maple Leafs pull an effort out of the hat like they had against the Oilers? That is the question. Buffalo does not have much left as far as scoring options although Philip Varone is interesting at least besides say Moulson, etc. Who starts in goal for Toronto? The probable is Jonathan Bernier but who really knows in this battle for TankWars. There will be lots of guessing as where to go for the point potential but James van Riemsdyk might be a possibility as there is not way he can be this bad for this long. Something has got to give here. There are lots of contrary type plays in this game, so it might be a good idea to risk one or two players here. What is the worst that could possibly happen?
Money Line: Leafs -225, O/U 5.5
Players to Watch
- Matt Moulson, LW, Sabres ($5000)
- Anders Lindback?, G, Sabres ($6800)
- Tyler Bozak, C, Leafs ($3900)
- Phil Kessel, RW, Leafs ($7800)
Rangers @ Capitals
These teams are going to play one strange game. The Rangers come off a tough game against the Islanders and the Capitals want to show they can compete for thee division crown. This game will be another war for New York as they have another back to back later in the week. Washington has an interesting dilemma with Nicklas Backstrom. Is he going to be able to play? He was held out of practice Tuesday with the flu. So check back and forth with the beat writers to make sure the center does play. He is likely to go for Washington. Braden Holtby should be able to outplay a tired Cam Talbot. Besides those games after the rivalry game tend to feature some kind of hangover for the Rangers. Then again, the Capitals have had time to rest. That can be a bit dangerous too. Will Alex Ovechkin play at 100%? That is something else that has to be asked as well. Either way, the top sixes for each team should be an electric matchup as far as scoring chances.
Line: NL. O/U 5
Players to Watch
- Derick Brassard, C, Rangers ($4500)
- Rick Nash, LW, Rangers ($9000)
- Nicklas Backstrom?, C, Caps ($7200)
- Braden Holtby, G, Caps ($8800)
Ducks @ Flames
The game is just all over the place. Consider how Calgary plays and this could be a 1-0 or a 4-3 up and down track meet. This is where it gets fun. Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf are not together anymore as the Ducks are trying to figure out how to generate offense. When does James Wisniewski play? Better yet, how is Anaheim the favorite in this game? This should be dead even or a slight nod towards Calgary. Kris Russell and Dennis Wideman are priced through the roof so not many will own them. They are the it pair in Calgary and people have picked up on it. Anaheim really is waiting to get healthy on the blue line and then the forward corps will need some sort of lift as they are struggling mightily. The Ducks power play has been sputtering to add insult to injury. At least the Calgary Flames have some third period push and are more of a threat on the power play. It could be high event hockey and this could also be a snoozer too. Stay tuned as this night could be a really bumpy one!

- Sean Monahan, C, Flames ($5900)
