Sabres @ Flyers

Game Analysis

The Buffalo-Philadelphia “rivalry” is always full of twists and turns. When the going gets ugly, Philly and Buffalo seem to get uglier. Buffalo has dug down so under that they have hit the under in six straight games. Their TT has gone under in six of the last eight games. You get the idea. Philadelphia should be able to score goals at home as Buffalo gives up 3.96 goals a game on the road. Ray Emery will start and against Michal Neuvirth more than likely. Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek will play a prominent role but do not be surprised to see Michael Raffl is the real wildcard that helps the top line along. Also, Michael Del Zotto is playing better and better. He may even be on radars for a DFS pickup. That sounds shocking but it is really true. As for Buffalo, other than the Zemgus Girgensons line and maybe Zach Bogosian, it is anyone’s guess as to who to pick for the Sabres. Neuvirth is not going to win often enough anyway and that is where the pain starts with the Sabres. They are almost DFS unplayable.

Money Line: Flyers – 260, O/U 5.5

Players to Watch

  • Zemgus Girgensons, C, Sabres ($4200)
  • Zach Bogosian, D, Sabres ($3300)
  • Michael Raffl, LW, Flyers ($3200)
  • Mark Streit, D, Flyers ($4100)

Blue Jackets @ Penguins

Game Analysis

These teams do not like each other at all! They also seem to hit the over just about every time they play which means a few pairing and line stacks have potential. Columbus even at their worst can usually irritate the living hell out of the Penguins. Thankfully Brandon Dubinsky is healthy which is not music to Sidney Crosby’s ears. However, It looks like Nick Foligno will be out for Columbus now as if they did not have enough injuries. Sergei Bobrovsky is almost ready but not quite just yet. Marc-Andre Fleury will likely face Curtis McElhinney and literally again you have to ask yourself where does this game go pace wise? This should be high event hockey to be honest but will the goals come? Hey if Sidney Crosby is going to keep passing up high probability chances then my god maybe this game will not be high scoring. Okay who am I kidding? Defense is just not really all that’s cracked up to be with either team at this point. Columbus will needs its first line to set the tone and Brandon Dubinsky to light the fuse or it will be an easy night for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh’s second and third line will be called upon a good bit also. This will still be fun even with the missing pieces.

Line: Pens -220. O/U 5.5

Players to Watch

  • Brandon Dubinsky, C, Blue Jackets ($5100)
  • Cam Atkinson, RW, Blue Jackets ($5500)
  • Evgeni Malkin, C, Pens ($8300)
  • Paul Martin, D, Pens ($2900)

Predators @ Islanders

Game Analysis

The game that everyone will have their eyes on or they should as the Predators and Islanders are two of the highest scoring teams in the league. Both teams have extremely balanced top nine’s when they are clicking. Pekka Rinne is one of the best goalies in the league period. Jaroslav Halak has been struggling of late, however. These are the types of games where you just sit back and enjoy the offense. Anders Lee and John Tavares have this knack of finding each other on the ice. Then there is that power play unit. However, Nashville has probably the most balanced 5 on 5 unit in the league and that causes its own challenges. When Filip Forsberg can be on your team’s third line, that is a heck of a luxury to have. The Shea Weber-Roman Josi duo just keeps on clicking as they are that “it” duo right now in the league. When people look at this game for stacks, etc….just expect a good bit of scoring and at the very least a good bit of high event hockey. There will be plenty of chances and the goalies are going to have to be on their toes.

Line: Isles -125. O/U 5.5

Players to Watch

  • Shea Weber, D, Preds ($7800)
  • Pekka Rinne, G, Preds ($9400)
  • Anders Lee, LW, Isles ($5800)
  • Jaroslav Halak, G, Isles ($8300)

Canucks @ Rangers

Game Analysis

Here come the Rangers! They are firing on all cylinders with 24 goals scored in their last five games. The strangest thing was that Rangers-Islanders game the other night as both teams combined for a good bit over 80 shots and over 40 scoring chances combined. Talk about a good old fashioned game of 80’s like hockey. This is how it is when you think about it. Ryan McDonagh finally started looking like the defenseman he was last season. Chris Kreider was skating with conviction and Derek Stepan was able to shake off a bad first 40 minutes to have a heck of a final 20. The Rangers have been giving up goals but Cam Talbot keeps winning starts and right now, that is all that matters. Vancouver has been a little more up and down as they have won three of their last five. Ryan Miller is likely to start but check with the beats first for confirmation. The Sedin Twins have to step up and make the Rangers take notice here. Otherwise, New York is going to have a pretty easy time at MSG.

Line: Rangers -145, O/U 5.5

Players to Watch

  • Ryan Miller, G, Canucks ($8000) — Check Confirmation First!
  • Radim Vrbata, RW, Canucks ($5800)
  • Kevin Klein, D, Rangers ($4400)
  • Rick Nash, LW, Rangers ($8200)

Jets @ Capitals

Game Analysis

I was looking at this game in particular as another high event possibility. The Capitals can push the puck up and down the ice and the Jets just take too many penalties so they have to play a lot more loose than they should. Obviously in GPP’s you have to find a way to sneak Alex Ovechkin, even with his price tag, into lineups. That means trying to place Nicklas Backstrom also along with probably John Carlson or Mike Green. As for Washington’s power play, Troy Brouwer has been great when he has been needed and Joel Ward has also been known to produce in the clutch. The Jets are still riding that goaltending platoon but the penalties they have taken have put undue pressure and stress on their team defense. That has caused Winnipeg to give up probably more goals than they should. These are the types of games where moderate to high scoring is likely so the Andrew Ladd line is a very possible stack and the goalies will be under the gun. Goalies might be able to be found elsewhere unless Braden Holtby plays out of the gates like he did in December and January.

Line: Caps -160, O/U 5.5

Players to Watch

  • Andrew Ladd, LW, Jets ($5200)
  • Dustin Byfuglien, D, Jets ($7600)
  • John Carlson, D, Caps ($6400)
  • Braden Holtby, G, Caps ($8400)

Panthers @ Canadiens

Game Analysis

The Panthers are definitely a fun team to watch. Montreal is well dull and yet weirdly intriguing all at the same time. Michel Therrien just had the puck iced again. Yet, despite all the frustrations. the Habs just keep on finding ways to win. That was up until last night when Andrew Hammond of all people stopped 40+ shots in a 4-2 win over Montreal. Carey Price gets the call and some will even take him despite his $9700 price tag on DraftKings. Keep an eye on the Habs and especially P.K. Subban who is logging a ton of ice time lately due to maladies and injuries. Could he be the next high profile player to go down? It has happened before so why couldn’t it happen again. This easily projects out to 60+ shots combined and at least 4-6 goals. That goal count could be lower all depending on how much of a brick wall the goalies really are. If you are a DFS fan, stacking Florida’s first line may be a decent idea while considering a Habs defense duo with a side of Pacioretty. Either way, there are plenty of combinations in this tilt for your perusal.

Line: Habs -165, O/U 5

Players to Watch

  • Jimmy Hayes, RW, Panthers ($4300)
  • Roberto Luongo, G, Panthers ($8100)
  • Andrei Markov, D, Habs ($5300)
  • Tomas Plekanec, C, Habs ($5900)

Sharks @ Stars

Game Analysis

Gone in an instant are the dreams of seeing Dallas continue the fairy tale. They are going to give up more than one goal to San Jose as the Sharks can definitely play at a fast pace along with the Stars. Will Kari Lehtonen be able to make the saves? Better yet, can Antti Niemi? It is a great question simply because San Jose backers on DFS definitely have trust issues with Niemi. There are so many weapons from both teams to take a look at. Even without Tyler Seguin, who is out another 3-6 weeks, Dallas has more then enough weapons. John Klingberg has been nothing short of amazing while Jason Spezza stepped up huge with three assists. Yes the Stars are missing Eaves and Seguin. That does hurt but life really goes on. Dallas knows it cannot flee from what has got them to this point. The Sharks can be attacked defensively even with Brent Burns being a considerable adventure. Just when you expect things to go a certain way then the unexpected decides to occur. San Jose really needs their duos of Pavelski and Couture then Thornton and Marleau for starters. Statistically, Dallas is a razor thin slight feature but the intangibles are with San Jose. This should be really good to watch.

Line: Stars -125. O/U 5.5

Players to Watch

  • Joe Pavelski, C, Sharks ($8400)
  • Antti Niemi, G, Sharks ($7700)
  • Jamie Benn, LW, Stars ($8900)
  • Kari Lehtonen, G, Stars ($8800)
