We try to bring you some early 2015 winnings here on the playbook. This is, in reality a middle high slate as you can see below.

Note: There are eight games tonight at 7:00 pm or after.

This is a slate that has a features intrigue. Let’s discuss!

Henrik Lundqvist ($8,300) – This may be a bit of safe is death but the Rangers against the Sabres seems like an easy bet given Buffalo the last five seasons beats the Rangers about as often as a severe blizzard. That being said, Buffalo did play on Friday so their shot total may be a good bit lower and that will impact Lundqvist’s point potential. The Ranger goalie has eight wins in his last ten starts with a goals against near two. Start him like you normally would.

Kari Lehtonen ($7,00) – The fun thing is do not expect a shutout again but was nice to see Lehtonen look good in a 6-0 win over Arizona. The goalie has seven wins in his last ten starts with a save percentage over .920. This represents the first time that the Dallas goalie has pulled this off all year. Minnesota is going to score a couple goals likely but this is a game Dallas should win. The key word is should.

Others to consider: Antti Niemi ($8,000), Jimmy Howard ($7,300). — Howard is a risk but given Miller’s inconsistency, this could be worth a shot.

Tyler Seguin ($9,300) – Seguin did manage to hit value the other night and amazingly the last ten games have seen virtually the same production as the entire season (5.5 daily points per contest). His price has stayed static also which is good. If he keeps producing and has solid match-ups then keep exploiting them.

Claude Giroux ($8,700) – This is where you just have to keep starting Giroux until he cools off a few games. The injury Giroux suffered on Friday night is minor thanks to the Kevlar socks he wears otherwise a lacerated leg could have been disastrous. Right now, he is listed as probable and should play. He fares pretty well against New Jersey and really this is too easy. The Devils make quite a few mistakes and Giroux could feast on this.

Pavel Datsyuk ($5,700) – Datsyuk again is a player that you just roll with as an excellent mid range value until the wheels fall off or until injury hits. A goal or assist seems the norm and a few shots a night which is pretty good considering. Even on the road, you roll the center anyway. Why not take the plunge and roll with it?

Others I like: Evgeni Malkin ($8,600), Derek Stepan ($6,000).

Value: Andrew Ebbett ($2,500), Chris VandeVelde ($2,500).

Jakub Voracek ($7,400) – Anyone who is anyone had to be relieved that Claude Giroux was not seriously injured and most notably Voracek owners were the happiest. Without one, the other is just not the same. Look at the Kyle Okposo numbers without John Tavares last season. Okposo was still good but not at that point a game level. In this case, Voracek is trending up even on Saturday night. Do not get distracted by the headlines.

Max Pacioretty ($6,400) – It is a Pittsburgh night and that means all previous trends get thrown out the window. The Penguins have a tough time with Pacioretty and it is not a secret why. Basically you play him like a must play at a slightly lower value. After all, what else have you got to lose, right?

Wayne Simmonds ($5,200) – This could be good only because of the fact that Simmonds can match up well against New Jersey especially on the power play, where he could be on the first unit. For some reason, he is really good at getting under the skin of Devils players and that makes him valuable even in goal situations where he could gain valuable assists just because.

Others I like: Nick Foligno ($5,600), Tomas Tatar ($4,800), Tommy Wingels ($4,100). — Wingels is the sneaky play.

Value: Beau Bennett ($2,500), Daniel Winnik ($2,500).

Kris Letang ($5,300) – Defense is kind of the position tonight that has more value than the center or even wings….to a point! Letang’s price dropping again helps too. Obviously he is the player you want to get in on with Montreal in town. This really does seem to be the game to get in on as far as stacks for late night along with San Jose and even the Dallas game.

Alex Goligoski ($4,600) – Simply this could be a worthy play only out of default but just take this as a bit of a hunch and roll with it. Goligoski looked great against Arizona, had points, blocked shots, and attempted shots. He has the chance to score in this one. Now it is just a question of can he? Daily point wise, that answer is likely to be yes.

Others I like: Brent Burns ($5,800), Jared Spurgeon ($4,300), Cody Franson ($4,200).

Value: Kevin Klein ($3,000), Adam Larsson ($2,500).

Thanks for reading guys and hopefully the picks help you out. If you have any questions, fire them away at me on twitter @ChrisWasselTHW and i’ll do my best to answer them. Defenseman have major value in DraftKings tonight! That will allow you to afford higher priced players. We will also have a few adds and subtractions as well.

Good luck today and welcome to 2015!
