Top Lines of the Night

Chicago Blackhawks @ Calgary

Patrick Kane ($8,400) – Artem Anisimov ($5,200) – Artemi Panarin ($6,800)

This line just keeps producing for the Hawks and they have a fantastic matchup tonight against the struggling Flames. The most productive member so far has been Anisimov. He has all eight of his points in his last four games, adding eight shots and two PPPs. Kane has points in three of his last four, but he has only recorded two shots in his last two games. He should increase that number tonight against Brian Elliott. Panarin has been inconsistent but has multi-point outings in two of his last three. With their matchup tonight, I don’t mind playing at least two from this line.

Montreal Canadiens vs Philadelphia

Max Pacioretty ($7,000) – Alex Galchenyuk ($6,200) – Brendan Gallagher ($6,600)

This has been one of the most consistent scoring lines in the league to start the year. Galchenyuk has points in each of his five games so far, while Pacioretty and Gallagher have netted points in four of five. The trio have looked very good in the early going and have a solid matchup tonight against the Flyers. Despite it being early in the season Philly is allowing the fifth-most goals against per game so far, meaning this line could have good success tonight.

Superstar to Build Around

Wayne Simmonds ($6,400) – Despite a tough matchup tonight against Carey Price, Simmonds has been too solid to ignore in the early going. He has goals in four straight games, three on the PP, including against Corey Crawford and John Gibson, and is coming off his best game of the early season. He netted a goal and assist on Saturday against the Hurricanes, and he has had decent success against the Canadiens in his career notching 10 points in 19 games.

Value on Offense

Tyler Motte ($3,600) – Motte has settled in nicely in a particularly cushy assignment on the Blackhawks first line with Jonathan Toews and Richard Panik. The rookie has netted goals in back-to-back games and has points in four of his six outings this season. I love him at this great price and with a great matchup tonight against the Flames.

Matt Read ($4,300) – Like Simmonds, Read has a very tough matchup tonight against the Habs and Carey Price. However, he is one of the hottest scorers in the league at the moment with five goals in his last four games. Read is third on the Flyers in shots on goal with 15 so far and is worth a solid look on such a limited night despite the difficult draw.

Stud Goalies

Carey Price ($8,300) – Price is looking like his old self so far through two games, and there is no sign that will change. The former Vezina winner and MVP has won both his starts this year and has allowed only four goals. He is one of the top two or three starters on any given night, but on such a limited night of action he is my top goalie available.

Corey Crawford ($8,200) – Crawford has started very slowly this season allowing 13 goals in his first four outings. He got the night off on Saturday after his start on Friday so he is in-line to start tonight against the Flames. He has played some top offenses so far but has a favorable matchup tonight against the inconsistent Flames’ offense.

Value on Defense

Dennis Wideman ($4,000) – After sitting for a few games, Wideman notched two assists and four SOG in a solid outing on Saturday. He now has points in two of three games played this year with 10 SOG. The Flames have been inconsistent, but face a shaky Hawks’ goaltending situation, and if Wideman continues to shoot like this he may be a solid play tonight.

Ivan Provorov ($3,600) – Outside of a minus-5 showing against the Blackhawks, the rookie Provorov hasn’t looked out of place. He is coming off his best game of the seasons against the Hurricanes this weekend when he collected a pair of assists and added four blocked shots. He’s seeing significant playing time and is a great value on defense.

Power Play Defensemen

Shea Weber ($6,400) – Weber has settled in perfectly on the Habs blueline. He has points in four of his first five games and netted a PPG in a multi-point effort against the Coyotes last week. He is running the point on the Canadiens’ first PP unit and is definitely one of the top defenseman on the board tonight.

Duncan Keith ($5,900) – Keith has started on fire for the Hawks with six points, and two multi-point games in the teams’ first six contests. He has two PPA so far this year and is running the point with Brent Seabrook on the Hawks’ top PP. Keith continues to put up solid all-around numbers as well with 14 SOG and seven blocks in six games. He and the Blackhawks have a great scoring matchup tonight against the Flames.
