Top Lines of the Night
Dallas Stars vs Ottawa Senators
Tyler Seguin ($7,100) – Jason Spezza ($5,000) – Jamie Benn ($6,900)
Benn enters tonight riding a seven-game point streak, with points in nine of his last 10 games overall. He has 14 points and five multi-point games in that span. Seguin has been equally as good, with 15 points and 39 shots on goal (SOG) in his last 10 games, and comes in tonight with points in three-straight games. Spezza is seeing consistent time centering these two again, and it is paying off. He enters tonight on a four-game point streak, with points in five of his last six, and he has scored a goal in three of his last four games.
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Winnipeg Jets
Sidney Crosby ($8,500) – Conor Sheary ($6,000) – Chris Kunitz ($4,700)
I think both of the Penguins’ top lines are solid options tonight, but Crosby is due for a big game against a team that he has dominated in the past. Sid is on a bit of a scoring slump, with only two points in his last four games; however, he had a three point game against the Jets three weeks ago and has 50 points in 31 career matchups. Sheary has looked very good in his two games back from his long injury layoff and posted a multi-point outing against Buffalo over the weekend, along with four SOG. The young winger has 37 points in 44 games this season, mostly with Crosby. Kunitz has been on-and-off this line, and this could be Jake Guentzel at points tonight in this spot. Kunitz is a decent value option because of price and exposure to Crosby, but I think Crosby and Sheary are the ones to target on this line.
Superstar to Build Around
Brad Marchand ($7,300) – Marchand netted a power play goal (PPG) on Monday against the Senators, giving him 30 goals for the second-consecutive season. He has already posted career-highs with 38 assists and 68 points. Marchand and the Bruins face the Red Wings tonight at home. So far this year he has four points in three games against Detroit and has 28 points in 31 games at home.
Value on Offense
Alex Burrows ($4,500) – Burrows was buried on the Canucks in an offense that was anemic, but he is thriving so far in Ottawa. Burrows had 20 points in 55 games in Vancouver but has four points in three games in Ottawa. He has two multi-point games and is playing a top-six role.
Mathieu Perreault ($4,700) – Perreault has thrived as of late playing on the Jets’ top line with Mark Scheifele and Patrik Laine, putting up 11 points in his last eight games. He has a tough draw tonight against the Penguins, but he did manage an assist against Pitt two weeks ago when these teams matched up.
Craig Anderson ($8,100) – Yes, the Stars’ top line is my top line of the night, but Anderson has been too good lately to expect him to not get the win. He comes into tonight having won his last four starts and he’s posted a 7-2-0 record and a 1.78 goals against average (GAA) since his February return. He may allow a couple of goals tonight, but he’s a great option to pick up a win.
Tuukka Rask ($8,400) – Rask has struggled his last two outings, posting back-to-back losses against the Senators and Rangers. He has looked solid in those outings, however, and has a very favorable matchup tonight against Detroit. In three games against the Wings this season Rask is 2-0-1, and he’s posted a 2.31 GAA at home this year.
Value on Defense
Mike Green ($4,500) – Green broke a long scoring slump, eight games, with a very good game against the Leafs last night. He dished out an assist while adding three blocks and two SOG. He is a solid price and has three points in three games against the Bruins this season.
Josh Morrissey ($3,400) – Morrissey is coming off a great game against the Sharks on Monday night. He netted his fourth goal of the season, firing off five SOG and three blocked shots. He has four points, 20 blocks and 16 shots in his last 10 games.
Power Play Defensemen
Erik Karlsson ($7,400) – Karlsson comes in tonight with points in four of his last five games. He has a goal, five assists, three special teams points and is generating great peripherals. Karlsson has 18 SOG and 15 blocks with a great matchup against the Stars, who are ranked last in the league in Penalty Kill.
Justin Schultz ($5,600) – Schultz has posted back-to-back multi-point games and he’s doing plenty of damage on the power play (PP). He has two goals and three assists in those two games, with three PP points. He is the top offensive option at the moment on the Pens’ blue line in a favorable matchup tonight.
