Top Lines of the Night
Florida Panthers @ Anaheim Ducks
Jonathan Huberdeau ($5,700) – Aleksander Barkov ($6,200) – Jaromir Jagr ($4,700)
Huberdeau and Barkov have been on fire and continue their dominance since returning to the Panthers lineup. Huberdeau has back-to-back multi-point games and has a goal in three of his four games since his return. Barkov had three points, four blocks and three shots against the Sharks on Wednesday for an 11.5 FPT night. He has four goals in his last three games. Jagr has points in three straight games and notched his 1,900th career point on Wednesday night with his assist. I like this line a lot right now, regardless of their opponent.
Carolina Hurricanes vs Colorado Avalanche
Jordan Staal ($4,900) – Sebastian Aho ($4,800) – Elias Lindholm ($4,300)
Staal has points in four of his last five games posting six points and having two multi-point games. He had two assists in his last game against Dallas before the bye. Aho has been very impressive as a rookie this season and has seven goals in his last 10 games. He had a great game in his last outing with a goal and eight shots on goal (SOG). Lindholm joins Staal with points in four of his last five games, and also had two assists (one power play (PP)) against Dallas. He has three multi-point games in those last five with two power play points (PPP) and 11 SOG.
Superstar to Build Around
Sidney Crosby ($8,500) – Crosby had a great game last night against the Jets, netting a goal and two assists. His first point of the night was his 1,000th career point. He had a PP assist as well last night and now has points in back-to-back games with nine SOG. He faces the Blue Jackets tonight, and in two games against Columbus this year he has a goal and 10 shots. Sid is second to Connor McDavid with 64 points this season and leads the league with 31 goals.
Value on Offense
Boone Jenner ($4,600) – Jenner has had two of his strongest outings of the year in his last three games. He has points in four of his last seven games overall, and he has three points, one multi-point game, and 14 SOG in his last three games. He has two points in two games against Pittsburgh this year.
Ondrej Kase ($3,200) – It has not been a good year for Kase with only 12 points in 40 games. But, with the suspension to Antoine Vermette, he will draw into the lineup. He was skating on the Ducks new top line yesterday in practice with Ryan Getzlaf and Jakob Silfverberg, and he should good be a solid value play tonight.
Matt Murray ($7,700) – Murray is coming off his third shutout of the season in his last outing against the Canucks. He has won four of his last five starts and has not lost in regulation in any of those games (4-0-1). One of those wins came against the Blue Jackets, who he faces tonight, holding them to three goals on 31 shots. He’s 1-1-0 against the Blue Jackets this season.
John Gibson ($7,900) – Despite the tough matchup tonight with the Panthers, I think Gibson will help seal the win for the Ducks. He might allow two or three goals, but he has been great as of late. Gibson blanked the Wild on Tuesday night and is 5-4-0 with a 2.20 goals against average (GAA) in his last 10 games.
Value on Defense
Mark Barberio ($3,000) – Barberio has taken on an expanded role since he came to the Avs from the Habs. He has three points, two PPP and 14 SOG in seven games with Colorado. He has a goal and nine SOG in his last two games, averaging almost 22 minutes per night.
Hampus Lindholm ($3,400) – Lindholm has points in three straight games for the Ducks, and in four of his last six overall. He has a goal and three assists, one PP assist, six blocks and five SOG in those three games. He faces the Panthers tonight, and he had a goal against Florida in their last meeting two weeks ago.
Power Play Defensemen
Kris Letang ($6,500) – Letang joined Sidney Crosby with a three-point night last night against the Jets. He picked up one assist on the PP and added three SOG and four blocks. He has a three-game point streak, all assists, and had two assists (one PP) against Columbus two weeks ago.
Justin Faulk ($5,600) – Faulk has been fantastic since his big weekend at the All-Star game. In his five games since coming out of the break he has points in four of them. He has two goals, two assists, three PPP and nine SOG. Faulk and the Hurricanes have a great matchup tonight against Colorado and their 25th-ranked penalty kill.
