Stud Goalies

Petr Mrazek ($7,900): Mrazek has been a revelation for the Red Wings since he took over in net late last season and this year he has proven their faith in him time and time again. He is leading the league in both GAA (1.97) and SV% (.933). He has posted back-to-back stellar outings allowing a goal against to the Islanders and shutting out the Panthers on Monday night. The Red Wings face the Senators tonight and in his only game against their division rival this season, Mrazek picked up the win.

Top Line of the Night

Detroit Red Wings

Pavel Datsyuk ($6,000) – Henrik Zetterberg ($5,600) – Justin Abdelkader ($4,600)

With a matchup with the worst scoring defense in the league, the Red Wings top-line are my top trio of the evening. Datsyuk had one of his best games of the season against the Panthers with two goals on seven shots. It was the Russian center’s second consecutive multi-point game after he had a two-assist night against the Islanders. Zetterberg, back with Datsuyk now on a line, added two assists of his own against the Panthers. Abdelkader had an assist against the Panthers and now has three points in his last three games. As was said above the Senators have the worst team scoring defense in the league and despite the acquisition yesterday of Dion Phaneuf, I don’t think it will be enough to keep the Red Wings and their potent offense in check.

Top Upside at Defense

Kris Letang ($6,700): I wrote about Letang the other day and all he continued to do it produce alongside Crosby and the Penguins top scorers. He had his second-consecutive multi-point game against the Ducks Monday night with a two assist night and has scored in three of his last four games, all three games being multi-point outings. He’s up to 40 points on the season which is good for fifth amongst defensemen in league scoring and his 31 assists sit just outside the top-10 in the league overall.

Kevin Klein ($3,300): Klein is playing the Rangers top-four defensive rotation at the moment on a pairing with Marc Staal and has points in two of his last four games. He of only 11 points on the season, Klein had a one-timer that found the back of the net on Monday against the Devils. He’s running the point on the Rangers second power-play unit and at $3,300 could be a great value play on such a limited evening, in what could turn into a high-scoring affair with the Penguins.

Superstar to Build Lineups Around

Sidney Crosby ($8,100): Crosby has extended his points streak to 11 games now after an impressive four-point showing on Monday night against the Ducks when he posted two goals and two assists to go along with three SOG and one BS. He’s now smashed through the point-per-game barrier on the season with 53 points in 51 games and does not look to be slowing down anytime soon. Despite the recent run of form from Henrik Lundqvist, I don’t think the Rangers defense will be able to keep “The Kid” in check on Wednesday night with as hot as he’s been lately.

Value Plays

Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($3,700): Pageau has erupted for an offensive outbreak lately with 10 points in his last 10 games, bringing him up to 23 points on the season. He’s centering the Senators second line at the moment and has been fantastic in the expanded offensive role. He’s currently riding a four-game point streak that has produced two goals, five assists, 10 SOG and two multi-point games. He had a fantastic outing against the Lightning on Monday night with a goal and two assists against Andrei Vasilevskiy and, despite the difficult matchup tonight with Petr Mrazek, at $3,700 is a fantastic value to take a flier on.

Jesper Fast ($3,000): The newly formed Rangers top line has been incredibly potent lately and fast has been a huge part of that. Playing with Brassard and Miller at the moment has made Fast immediately fantasy-relevant thanks to playing prime minutes in their top-six. He has points in four of his last five games, all assists, including in both of his last two outings. If you’re looking for a cheap option on the wing tonight, look no further than Fast who comes in at a fantastic price of $3,000 for a top-line player.

Evgeni Malkin ($7,500) Malkin remains out for the Penguins and bad news came in yesterday that he will miss at least another week for Pittsburgh. He is dealing with a knee issue and with the way the Penguins have been playing as of late, they are content to let him heal up until he is ready to get back into the lineup without pressing him in before he’s ready.

Ryan McDonagh ($5,200) The Rangers captain has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game against the Penguins with a concussion. He sustained the concussion over the weekend against the Flyers and will now miss his second-consecutive game with the issue. There are other options for your blueline tonight so look elsewhere to fill your roster out on D.
