Top Lines of the Night
Chicago Blackhawks vs New York Rangers
Patrick Kane ($8,000) – Artemi Panarin ($7,000) – Artem Anisimov ($6,600)
Kane pushed his point streak to four games with an assist on Tuesday night in the Hawks 4-0 win over the Coyotes. He now has 27 points in 28 games on the season, and he has at least one point in six of his last seven games. Anisimov is turning it around the last couple of weeks since returning to Kane’s line. He has five points in eight games since the Toews injury. Panarin had a two-game goal streak snapped against the Coyotes but he has still managed an impressive 23 points in 28 games to start his sophomore season. He is second on the team with 76 shots on goal (SOG) and in two career games against the Rangers he has four goals on five shots.
New Jersey Devils vs St. Louis Blues
Taylor Hall ($6,900) – Adam Henrique ($4,800) – P.A. Parenteau ($4,100)
Not only do I think the Devils’ top line is a great play tonight, I think they are a value stack as well. Hall has come back from his injury on a mission. He has three consecutive multi-point outings with three goals, four assists, three power play points (PPP) and six SOG. Henrique has points in two of those three games including a multi-point outing last night against the Canadiens. Two of his three points in those games are on the power play (PP) too. Parenteau has assists in back-to-back games playing on this line and has added four SOG in his last two outings as well. This line should have a solid matchup tonight against St. Louis backup Carter Hutton, and the Blues are also on the second night of a back-to-back.
Superstar to Build Around
Vladimir Tarasenko ($7,900) – Tarasenko and the Blues took a tough loss last night to the Islanders, but they have a great chance to bounce back tonight against the Devils. Tarasenko snapped a two-game pointless streak with an assist on Robby Fabbri’s goal and added three SOG as well. He’s top-five in the league in scoring, SOG and is top-10 in goals scored. Tarasenko has a great matchup tonight against Devils backup Keith Kinkaid, who has allowed 11 goals against over his last three outings.
Value on Offense
Drake Caggiula ($3,100) – Caggiula finds himself saddled in one of the more prime fantasy hockey positions out there right now, Connor McDavid’s right wing. He’s played there for two games in a row and collected three points, two on the PP. A great value price coupled with great fantasy relevance keeps Caggiula on the radar.
Justin Williams ($4,700) – Williams finds himself on a line with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov and has been productive there lately. He netted two goals against the Bruins on Wednesday night and had an assist on Monday against the Sabres. He also has 13 SOG over his last four games.
Sergei Bobrovsky ($8,000) – Bobrovsky has lost only once in regulation in his last 10 starts, going 8-1-1 with a 1.89 GAA and .922 SV% in that span. The former Vezina winner is riding a three-game winning streak where he has allowed only four goals against. He faces the Red Wings tonight, a team he’s dominated in his career to the tune of a 2.08 goals against average (GAA) and a .934 save percentage (SV%) in 12 starts.
Martin Jones ($7,700) – Jones is coming off a tough loss against the Senators on Wednesday, but he has a solid divisional matchup against the Ducks tonight. The Ottawa loss snapped a three-game winning streak, but overall Jones is 6-3-1 in his last 10 games. In two games against the Ducks this season Jones is 1-1-0 with a 2.01 GAA.
Value on Defense
Andrej Sekera ($4,400) – Sekera is reaping the benefits of playing at even strength and on the PP with the Oilers’ top lines. He has points in five of his last six games, with two multi-point outings. He had a goal and an assist last night with three shots and a block against the Flyers.
Jay Bouwmeester ($3,700) – Bouwmeester has been a minutes eater for the Blues lately and has put up decent numbers in the process. He has two assists, four blocks and five SOG. He played well last night against the Islanders and he has a solid matchup again tonight vs the Devils.
Power Play Defensemen
Rasumus Ristolainen ($5,600) – Ristolainen has been on fire his with seven points in his last five outings, including four on the PP. His 11 PPPs are second among defensemen in the league this year. Risto has four points, six shots and seven blocks in two games this week.
Zach Werenski ($6,400) – Werenski has tailed off a bit, with only one point in his last five games, but he has continued to play strong hockey. He did net a goal on Monday against the Coyotes, and he’s second on the team with 71 SOG and eight PPP. He’s averaging over three SOG and almost two blocked shots per game in his last five games.
