Fantasy Hockey Cheat Sheet: Top Lines, Values, Goalies for December 6

There are 11 games on a busy NHL slate tonight and it features William Nylander’s return the Maple Leafs lineup. Calgary’s point producing first line battles the Wild, while the Canadians square off against the Senators. Here are the top line stacks, value plays and stud goalies you should consider for your fantasy hockey lineups.

Top Line Stacks

Avalanche at Panthers

Gabriel Landeskog ($6,900) – Nathan MacKinnon ($8,200) – Mikko Rantanen ($7,600)
The Avalanche’s No. 1 line is explosive and dynamic. MacKinnon has 19 goals and is producing 6.0 FPPG this season, plus 27 of his 43 points have come on the road. Rantanen has been an assist machine, collecting 35 helpers while averaging 5.2 fantasy points per contest. He has five goals on the power play this season. Landeskog has recorded five points in the last four games and tallied at least 5.5 fantasy points in three of those matchups.

Flames vs. Wild

Johnny Gaudreau ($7,200) – Sean Monahan ($6,900) – Elias Lindholm ($6,000)
Calgary exploded for nine goals agains the Blue Jackets on Tuesday and the Flames No. 1 line combined for 10 points. Gaudreau and Monahan had four points each against Columbus, looking like they were in arcade mode. Lindholm has 13 goals and five of them have come with the man-advantage. Gaudreau’s on a five-game point streak and is producing 4.4 FPPG. Monahan is on a three-game goal streak and has tallied at least 5.5 fantasy points in those contests.

Superstar to Build Around

Auston Matthews, TOR vs. DET ($8,300) — Matthews is back from injury and already terrorizing goaltenders. He has five goals in the last three games and produced seven points in those contests. Matthews has totaled 15 goals in 14 games while averaging 6.7 FPPG so far this season. Six of his goals have come on the power play and he gets another boost with forward William Nylander ($5,200) back on his wing.

Value on Offense

Jesper Bratt, NJ at LAK ($4,300) — Bratt has collected two goals and two assists in the last four games. He’s averaging 3.0 fantasy points per game and has two goals this season. The right winger could see time on the power play, which would put him in prime position to put up some points.

Jake DeBrusk, BOS at TB ($4,100) — DeBrusk hasn’t tallied a point in four straight games, so it’s a perfect time to grab DeBrusk at a great value. He’s producing 2.6 FPPG and has put 10 pucks past opposing netminders. DeBrusk has three goals with the man-advantage and sees just over 16:00 of ice time per game.

Stud Goalies

Garrett Sparks, TOR vs. DET ($8,300) — With the Maple Leafs giving starter Frederik Andersen the night off, Sparks will be in net for a cushy matchup at home vs. the Red Wings. Sparks has been more than serviceable this season as Toronto’s backup, going 4-1-0 with a .924 SV% in five games. He has been particularly strong at home, stopping 67 of 68 shots with one shutout in two starts. Detroit is also without top-line forward Anthony Mantha, which only helps the Maple Leafs’ already high odds of picking up a win tonight.

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK vs. CHI ($8,300) — Fleury will face a Blackhawks team on the second night of a road back-to-back. He has found his groove as of late and has seven wins in his last eight starts. Fleury has a 2.40 GAA and .912% save percentage on the season, but has been stellar at home, going 8-3-1 with a .931 SV% and 1.90 GAA. He has shut out the Blackhawks once in his career.

Value on Defense

Mattias Ekholm, NSH at VAN ($4,700) — The Predators have needed Ekholm to step up with P.K. Subban sidelined, and he’s done just that. Ekholm has dished out two assists in the last two games and is averaging 2.8 fantasy points per game. He has also recorded four assists with the man-advantage and two of his three goals have come on the road this year.

Mike Matheson, FLA vs. COL ($4,400) — Matheson has provided some offensive juice for the Panthers in the past couple of games. He’s on a three-game point streak and has tallied as many points (1G, 2A) in that span. He has produced four assists on the power play and is collecting 2.8 fantasy points per game.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI vs. WAS ($4,400) — The Coyotes’ captain is a on three-game point streak and has dished out three assists in those games. His two goals have come with the man-advantage and he is collecting 2.8 fantasy points per contest. Ekman-Larsson recorded one assist against the Capitals in their last matchup.

Power-Play Defensemen

Shea Weber, MON at OTT ($6,500) — Weber is back to quarterbacking the Canadiens’ power play. He is yet to collect a point with the man-advantage, but has two goals in four games. Weber is producing 4.1 FPPG and has fired at least three shots on net in his first four games of the season.

Kris Letang, PIT vs. NYI ($6,400) — The Penguins defenseman has been great on the PP this year. He has recorded two goals and seven assists this season on the man-advantage. Letang has produced 4.4 FPPG and has five goals this season. He also has tallied one goal and nine assists in the last 10 games.
