Football is finally here and to prepare for Week 1 of the fantasy football season, we are taking a look back at 3 of the top performances from 2014 and two guys who would help you win big in Week 1 this year. Choosing the right quarterback for your team can be tricky, but if you choose wisely, you could be the next millionaire winner in DraftKings fantasy football.
3. Ryan Fitzpatrick – 2014 Week 13 – 42.32 Points
24-33 358 Yards, 6 TDs
This was a career game for the Harvard graduate, who threw for 6 of his 17 touchdowns in one game last year. He showed great chemistry with DeAndre Hopkins, who brought in 238 yards in 2 TDs himself. That combo helped JGENNARO29 win $1 Million last year on DraftKings, as his team put up over 300 points in Week 13.
Fitzpatrick will likely be starting Week 1 for the Jets this year, with Geno Smith out with a broken jaw following a locker room altercation. He has shown the ability to step up when thrust into the opportunity. His price for week 1 is the minimum $5,500 and a similar performance could create the next fantasy football millionaire.
2. Russell Wilson – 2014 Week 7 – 42.12 Points
23 – 36, 313 passing yards, 2 TDs, 106 Rushing Yards, 1 TD
Wilson’s ability to put up big stat lines from a both a passing and rushing perspective are what make him so valuable. When defenses take away one part of the Seahawks game, he is able to quickly adjust.
Coincidentally, this game came against the Rams last year, who the Seahawks will face again in Week 1 of 2015. We’ll see if he can replicate this game to start the season off hot again.
1. Ben Roethlisberger – 2014 Week 8 -47.78 Points
40 – 49, 522 Yards, 6 TDs
From a statistics perspective, Big Ben had his most successful season to date in 2015. He threw for nearly 5,000 passing yards and 32 TDs with only 9 INTs. Antonio Brown has been such a consistent threat for the Steelers and when Roethlisberger gets hot, he can really rack up the points.
Who has a shot to put up a huge stat line in Week 1? Here are 2 others you should target if you want to win big in Week 1:
Week 1 NFL Contest – $10 Million in Prizes, $2 Million to First Place. Draft Your Team
2015 Week 1 Stud: Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers is the highest priced Quarterback on DraftKings in Week 1. Many fantasy owners will be reluctant to draft Rodgers after Jordy Nelson suffered an unfortunate season-ending injury in preseason. However, Rodgers has shown that he can produce big stat lines, regardless of the weapons around him. Randall Cobb and Davonte Adams will need to step up, but with a favorable matchup against a Bears defense that struggled mightily last year, this could be a wise pick.
2015 Week 1 Sleeper: Matthew Stafford
Stafford is priced in the middle of the pack to start the season, so choosing him could allow you to spend top-dollar to draft other players. But despite his reasonable salary, he has a chance to put up big numbers every week. A healthy Calvin Johnson is always a scary thing for defenses to defend.
