Fantasy Football WR Target Projections: Most Volume for Week 14

Volume significantly raises both the floor and ceiling of wide receivers. These are the ones I project to see the most targets in Week 14 (Sunday main slate only). Please note these aren’t rankings, just volume projections.

Davante Adams, GB vs. ATL, $8,400 — The firing of Mike McCarthy should be good news for the entire Packers offense. Look for Aaron Rodgers ($6,000) to become a playcaller at the line of scrimmage and dial up Adams often. Even though Adams saw a lot of Patrick Peterson last week, he still found his way to an 8-93-1 line on 13 targets. This week’s matchup against a Falcons pass defense ranked 23rd in yards per pass attempt allowed is much softer.
Projection: 11 targets

Antonio Brown, PIT at OAK, $9,000 — As noted by 4for4’s TJ Hernandez, The Steelers are the NFL’s most pass-heavy team in neutral situations over the past six weeks. Now their best runner (Jaylen Samuels) is really an H-back/tight end. Expect a very pass-heavy gameplan against the Raiders, who rank dead last in yards per pass attempt allowed.
Projection: 10 targets

Odell Beckham, NYG at WAS, $8,300 — Odell’s Week 13 struggles were at least somewhat predictable given the skills of Bears DC Vic Fangio. We shouldn’t be as scared of the Redskins as Josh Norman is not an overly scary matchup. Beckham went for 8-136-0 with Norman in majority coverage in October.
Projection: 10 targets

T.Y. Hilton, IND at HOU, $6,300 — The Colts scored zero points last week, and Hilton was held to 8-77-0. However, that was in an extremely difficult matchup against Jalen Ramsey and the Jaguars. Sunday sets up as a bounce-back spot in ideal conditions at Houston with a game, which has the makings of a shootout. Hilton is averaging 9.7 targets per game in the four since the Colts’ bye.
Projection: 10 targets

Julio Jones, ATL at GB, $7,900 — Julio dealt with a hand issue, a foot injury and the league’s best pass defense in Week 13. He also missed practice Wednesday. So Julio enters Week 14 with his usual upside in a good matchup at Green Bay, but the floor is lower than normal due to the outdoor cold climate and his injuries.
Projection: 10 targets

DeAndre Hopkins, HOU vs. IND, $7,800 — Deshaun Watson ($5,900) is averaging a brutally low 24.5 pass attempts per game over the past seven weeks. It’s led to disappointing production from Hopkins, who has been at eight fewer targets five times during that span. Still, note the Texans have faced BUF, JAX, MIA, DEN, WSH, TEN and CLE. Andrew Luck and the Colts’ offense almost certainly will force Watson into 30-35 attempts.
Projection: 10 targets

Keenan Allen, LAC vs. CIN, $7,400 — Allen threw a tantrum in London about not getting the ball enough. In the five games since then, he’s seen 57 of Philip Rivers’ 160 targets for an outrageous 35 percent share. Now comes a home spot against a Bengals defense allowing a league-worst 433.1 yards per game.
Projection: 10 targets

Michael Thomas, NO at TB, $8,600 — Thomas hasn’t topped eight targets in a game since Week 9 as the Saints have skewed toward the run. That’s partially due to a string of blowouts and partially due to the return of Mark Ingram. The matchup against a Bucs defense ranked 29th DVOA against No. 1 wideouts is a good one, but we can no longer pencil in double-digit targets.
Projection: 9 targets

JuJu Smith-Schuster, PIT at OAK, $8,200 — The Steelers’ throw-heavy ways (see Antonio Brown notes) have helped JuJu see at least nine targets in four of the past five games. Concerns are a possible blowout in Oakland combined with a season-high $8,200 tag on Smith-Schuster. He opened the season at just $5,900.
Projection: 9 targets

Tyreek Hill, KC vs. BAL, $8,000 — The Ravens are the NFL’s best pass defense by most available metrics. Now they meet the NFL’s best passing offense by most available metrics. Given the rules in today’s NFL, the advantage certainly goes to the offense. Note Hill is down $1,100 from his outrageous Week 13 price tag and likely will see a significant ownership decrease as well after last week’s dud.
Projection: 9 targets
