Week 5 is (mainly) in the books after an action-packed 12-game fantasy football Sunday main slate. As always, it didn’t end without its share of regrets.

So, as the hard-hitting analyst (?) that I am, I took to the ol’ Twitter machine to ask the masses: “WHO DESTROYED YOUR LINEUPS TODAY!?” As always, the internet didn’t disappoint. If you want to send your regrets, you can send them directly to @SBuchanan24. We will mourn together.

Oh, don’t think I forgot about the depressing music to listen to in the background as you read this article. This week features quite the depressing number, so make sure to enjoy it while you read over your mistakes.

Doug Baldwin, SEA VS. LAR ($5,000), DKFP Total: 1.1

Good lord, what a complete DISASTER this was. This was Machine Gun Kelly “Rap Devil” bad. In what was projected to be a shootout of a matchup against the Rams, the supposed WR1 of the Seahawks had a single reception forrrrrrr … one yard. In PPR scoring, you get a point for a catch and .10 points for a yard. Doing some quick math here — ah yes, that equals 1.1 DKFP. It’s not like Baldwin wasn’t on the field, either — he played on 53 offensive snaps, lining up evenly wide and in the slot. Nonetheless, according to the DK Live app, Baldwin was able to take the honor of the lowest scoring receiver on this slate (not including players with zeros), edging out household names like Ray-Ray McCloud III ($3,000) Jordan Matthews ($3,500) and Andre Roberts ($3,000) all of whom scored 1.4 DKFP. Disaster … complete and utter disaster.

Fading James Conner, PIT VS. ATL ($7,500), DKFP Total: 37.5 DKFP

I’ll admit when I’m wrong and boy was I wrong here. I can truthfully say that I had zero exposure to Conner in Week 5. To be fair, I’m a 100% GPP player, so cash games aren’t exactly my jam. So, trying to pivot off Conner, I was completely in on Christan McCaffrey ($8,000), Melvin Gordon ($8,600) and T.J. Yeldon ($5,600) as the running backs I had in the majority of my lineups. The haters will say “ThE fAlCoNs ArE sO bAd AgAiNsT tHe RuN, hOw StUpId CaN yOu Be?!” (that took a minute to type). And to be quite honest, I, like Franklin (who refused to use a GIF with his tweet) felt the repercussions and FAST. Conner had a 30-yard rush within the first three minutes of the game and found the end zone within 4:50 of the game. I’m quite sure before we were 20 minutes into the slate, Conner was already up to around 14 DKFP. Yada, yada, yada, he ends with 37.5 DKFP.

Personally, I think I simply overthought this one and his decrease in snaps since Week 1 had me worried, coupled with his less than stellar fantasy outputs and a rise in salary. So now, my record with hitting on Conner sits at 0-3. I stupidly faded him in Week 1 (lol) used him in Week 2-4 and faded him here. So, on weeks I used Conner: an average of 14.4 DKFP. Weeks I faded Conner: 37.8 DKFP. How he does next week will let you know whether I used him or not, so stay tuned!
