Game Notes

Highest Scoring Game

OAK vs. KC – 53.5 points

It seems only fitting the Chiefs are involved in the highest projected scoring game of the week as they take on the Raiders. The Chiefs opened as massive -13.5 favorites and own an 8-6-1 record against the spread this season and a 10-5 record in the over/under. These teams met once already to the tune of a 40-33 win for the Chiefs, which took place in Oakland.

This game should feature a full onslaught from the Chiefs per the usual, as they’ll be playing for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. This is luckily one of those games where we shouldn’t see any major restrictions from the starters unless, of course, the Chiefs take a massive lead. Patrick Mahomes ($7,100) is the most expensive quarterback on the slate and scored 33 DKFP against this team back in Week 13. He’s also two touchdowns away from the 50-touchdown mark, which I’m sure is something he’ll look to achieve in this game. With two poor defenses, this likely will be a highly popular game to target and one that really doesn’t feature many bad matchups. For what it’s worth, Derek Carr ($5,100) is only $100 more than when he faced this team in Week 13 and was able to score 24.2 DKFP in that matchup.

Lowest Scoring Game

MIA vs. BUF – 38.5 points

The lowest projected total belongs to the Dolphins in Buffalo, which sports a 38.5 total. The Bills are slight -3.5 favorites in this one and possess a 6-9 record against the spread and in the over/under. These teams recently met in Week 13, in which the Dolphins took the win in a 21-17 game in Miami.

As you’d imagine, it’s hard to be overly excited about playing anyone in this game. LeSean McCoy ($4,800) was one of the first players to come to mind against a poor Dolphins run defense that’s allowing an average of 28.2 DKFP allowed to opposing running backs per game, the fifth highest in the league. With that being said, McCoy is averaging just 9.1 DKFP per game and only managed 10.4 DKFP in the loss to this team in Week 13. We’re also coming off a game where Josh Allen ($6,000) was limited in the run game, and it showed in his final score. Allen could manage only 13.6 DKFP with just 30 rushing yards. Throwing 41 times, Allen completed 48 percent of his passes for 217 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. This game mostly should be off the fantasy radar in Week 17.

Lineup Quick Hits

QB To Build Lineups Around…

Jared Goff ($6,200) — The Rams will be looking to clinch the No. 2 seed in the NFC against a team they poured the offense on against in Week 7. The Rams scored 39 points on the 49ers with Goff scoring 16.4 DKFP. Goff only threw 24 times in this game but did throw for two touchdowns and 202 yards. With the unknown status of Todd Gurley ($8,600; knee) in this game, Goff could be forced to throw more in this one. Goff has been shaky at times this season, but this is one of the more generous defenses he’s faced lately, as he’s had a few difficult matchups over the past few weeks. Opposing QB are averaging 22 DKFP against the 49ers this season with an average of 249 passing yards and two passing touchdowns per game.

WR To Pair Him With…

Robert Woods ($6,900) — Woods only gets a minimal price bump after scoring 28.4 DKFP against the Cardinals in Week 16. In that game, Woods caught six of his seven targets for 89 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for a touchdown on two carries. Woods has been Goff’s favorite target essentially since Cooper Kupp went down for the season, as he’s drawn 9.6 targets since Week 10. Opposing WR1s are averaging 70.6 yards per game against the 49ers, which ranks amongst the highest in the league.

The Top RB Will Be…

Damien Williams ($6,100) — If Spencer Ware (hamstring) is out again, Williams would be in yet another huge spot to post some fantasy points. Fresh off a 29-DKFP performance against the Seahawks, Williams has a much more favorable matchup against a Raiders team that’s allowing an average of 121 rushing yards and 21.6 DKFP per game to opposing backs. In the two games as their lead back, Williams has 23 carries for 152 yards with two touchdowns and 13 targets with 13 catches for an additional 111 yards and another touchdown. If Ware is active, it certainly would bring the stock of Williams down, but I’d be curious of the usage of both. Either way, both are priced similarly enough that you can plug and play one or the other.
