Eric Berry gets his first INT since beating cancer https://t.co/OveazYToNz— Athlete Swag (@AthleteSwag) October 25, 2015
Is it getting a little dusty in here or is it just me?
It doesn’t matter what team you root for — this is one of the coolest tales of courage not just in the NFL this season, but, sports in general. If you’re unaware: Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry, the team’s defensive spiritual leader, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma last year and ended up missing most of the 2014-2015 season. He fought the disease, recovered at an unfathomable speed, and returned to the Chiefs in time for kickoff of this 2015-2016 campaign after a near-death experience…
With the Chiefs struggling and in the midst of a five-game losing streak, guess who single-handily put an end to it? Berry. As you just saw above: Eric picked off Steelers QB Landry Jones, returned it ~10 yards before being tackled, and let go his signature bow & arrow celebration which drew an emotional, audible reaction from the Arrowhead Stadium faithful that you just don’t usually hear after a change of possession at a football game — this was special, and a humbling reminder that sports can be more than just the game sometimes.
