What better way to start August off than with some football? Later tonight, the Denver Broncos will take on the Atlanta Falcons in the 2019 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. And yes, you can get in on the action on the DK Sportsbook. Let’s break down the odds:

Preseason games are always tough to predict. And it’s especially difficult when it’s the first game of the entire NFL season. But bets have been placed and the Broncos are getting most of the attention, at least in terms of money. As far as the total bets go, the Falcons are slightly ahead, which is to be expected considering they are the underdogs in the matchup.
We know that the two starting QBs, Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco, are sitting this one out, as are many starters for both teams. So, let’s not focus on the lineups too much. Instead, we can look back at past Hall of Fame Games and try to muster up some sort of a trend. Since 2000, the designated home team has won 11 out of the 17 matchups (the game was canceled one season due to a lockout and another due to poor field conditions.) Atlanta is the home team tonight, so the underdog could have history on its side.
I’d prefer to bet on the over/under for this one. It’s set at 34 total points, and the majority of the bets are being placed on the over, while the under is seeing a bit more of the handle. Looking at that same sample size of Hall of Fame Games, only seven out of 17 have gone over 34 total points. In recent seasons, Denver has put its focus on its defense. If that continues this season, I think we’ll get a good taste of it tonight. All things considered, I’d choose the under.
